Still Stitching #7. Yo-Yo's. Book Date. Waiting.

So far, we’ve looked at these principles which I’ve begun learning and implementing in my life with my loved one.
The first was:
 Then we looked at:
And now we are looking at:

As I was thinking about how to discuss this point, I realized that we are discussing detachment with love:  letting our loved one deal with the natural consequence of their behavior instead of rescuing them.

Oh boy!  Was this a hard lesson to learn – it still is – and sometimes I fail miserably.  But, as I pondered this point, the LROD spoke to me and said,
“When you are detaching with love,
you are NOT throwing your hands up
and quitting on your loved one.
When you detach with love,
you are releasing them TO ME.”

Big difference.  I am NOT throwing my loved one into the great abyss of living out their natural consequences, I AM throwing them into the loving arms of my Father – of THEIR Father.

Remember this point?

I know….it’s an excruciatingly painful process.
And the results are unknown.
It’s during this time, I could – and continue to lean on His everlasting arms.
His will be done.

Until next time, Dear Reader.

Yo-Yo's
Ever since I finished my Felt Nativity Calendar for my grandkids, I've been debating which hand sewing project to work on next.  I decided to pull out my yo-yo project.  Here is the next section.
It feels good to be working on this one as my portable sewing project!

Ordinary GraceI'm listening to Ordinary Grace and enjoying it as well.  I keep wondering what will happen....

Waiting
Here's the deal.
Yesterday I noticed changes in my breast - "the" breast that had cancer in 2014.

My doctor has ordered a 3D, diagnostic mammogram as well as an ultrasound "just in case."

Circumstances dictate that I can have the mammo on Wednesday morning.

So I wait.
I know the rules of this journey.
It's takes a lot of waiting.

So I wait.
While I wait, Something Heavenly by Sanctus Real is my anthem:

The chorus is my prayer:

Whatever you're doing inside of me

It feels like chaos somehow there's peace

It's hard to surrender to what I can't see

But I'm giving in to something heavenly

Still Stitching #5. Stitching With Love. Book Date.

Still Stitching #5
Hello There,
So, what does our last point look like?  Remember, it was

For me, it evolved.  I had to realize how true Step 1 is:

We admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.

In the rooms of Al-Anon, I learned that I could replace the word “alcohol” with anything – the actions of others, a horrible diagnosis, my boss, my peers – anything.  I only have control over my responses.  So, I turned to the One who has control.  In the beginning of each crisis (and they can be continuous), I allow myself to feel my emotions:  fear, anger, hurt, betrayal, disappointment, despair.

Then I cry – a lot.
Then I pray – even more.
Eventually I praise – even through my tears – I praise God.
That is so empowering:  letting the defeated one know he is defeated.

I also highly recommend reading the Bible.  Perhaps the Psalms are for you?  Maybe Philippians? Inspirational books help as well.  The ones that recently changed my life were Why the Sky is Blue by Susan Meissner and Hidden Places by Lynn Austin.  You will see how powerfully God can work in your life.

Music helps so much!

As you listen to the lyrics,
think of yourself,
not your loved one.
I learned to focus on me and becoming stronger.

My dear reader, music
encourages,
strengthens,
speaks,
heals,
and is always there.

You know what else is there?
Well, it’s Who is always there?
God.
Yup.

He is there, waiting for me,
waiting for you.
Give Him
your tears, joy will come in the morning,
your anger, He can take it – and give you peace.
You’ve tried everything else, why not give Him a shot?

Until next time.

Kat from Kat and Cat Quilts has a new block drive:  the Hunter's Star.   One of the reasons I so enjoy participating in her block drives are the opportunity to learn about new blocks!  Here are my first two blocks!
This one is correct.

 After a meeting
with the seam ripper,
this one will be correct as well!

Aren't the 30's fabrics so wonderfully pretty?

We are moving onto 2nd Samuel in The Story and I'm still keeping up!  Yea!  I like the mini sermons that are published after the Sunday sermon. Coupled with our Life Group, they give me a whole new perspective!

Saturday's Song. Drunkard's Path

Saturday's Song.
I've decided that my Saturday posts will be featuring a song that has blessed me during the past week!  I'll be calling it Saturday's Song!

This last week has been filled with growing pains for myself and a loved one. Let's remember Romans 8:28:

And we know that in ALL things
God works
for the good
of those who love him,
who have been called
according to his purpose.
Sometimes we have to remember to fight our way out of the darkness into the light!
Here is one song that got me dancing!

Drunkard's Path
Here it is!
Block 11 of
my Drunkard's Path $7.50 Club!
Basically, I got to make a quilt top
for $7.50
as long as I kept up
with each month's blocks!
We received our last block
which I'll be working on soon.
Then I'll put it all together!

God is on the Move! Fabri-Flair

God is on the Move!
When I first wrote about this song, I issued a challenge to everyone.  I have to ask again - did you do it?  What happened?  Please let me know!  I'm still dancing by the way!  :)

I see a generation
Standing on the truth
In each and every nation
God is on the move

Any time the gospel stirs a searching soul
And someone says, “Send me, here I go”
I know, I know, I know, I know

God is on the move, on the move
Hallelujah
God is on the move
In many mighty ways

God is on the move, on the move
Hallelujah
God is on the move
On the move today

I see a generation
Standing on the truth
In each and every nation
God is on the move

Yes!  I see hope in our young people.  I’m not blind or wearing rose colored glasses.  I see
our young quilters and their big hearts,
young people fighting and standing for God,
young people trying with everything they have to do right.

I have confirmation with this stanza.  God has been moving in my life and my heart.

He has shown me that there is a real need in my town that I can meet!

I love my Cancer Care Support Group.  It’s the one place I can speak very freely about my
experience and it’s effect on  me,
my family and
my loved ones,
our fears,
our hopes,
our dreams.
I can learn from and love other survivors.
We “get” each other.

But there is no such group for Spanish speakers!
Sooooo, yup,
You guessed it!
I’m starting one!
We are in the initial stages, but I’m doing this!
I’m so excited and grateful
for this opportunity,
and for the those who are willing to support or mentor me! Would you please pray for us as we move forward?

God is on the move, loved ones!  God is on the move!

Fabri-Flair
Remember when I wrote about this gift from the owner of my LQS?  Well, I finally chose the fabric for this project!

Here's what the kit looks like when you open it.  The brochure has great ideas and the instructions are amazing!  Of course, there are 24 templates.  I just took the picture after I covered 18 of them!  :)

Here's the outer fabric all cut up, glued and ready to go!  What do you think?  I'm so excited to begin stitching!

This is the fabric I'm using for the inside of the bowl.  Aren't those hexagons the cutest?
The remaining six templates need to be trimmed 1/16" on two sides.  Yikes!
After a bit of research, I figured out how to achieve this quite simply!

I am so excited to complete this project!  Can you guess who it's going to?

A Challenge! Current Works. To Do Tuesday

God is on the Move!
Have you heard this song?

It's called "God is on the Move" by 7eventh Time Down.  Yesterday it was in my head all day.  Later in the afternoon I turned on KLOVE and guess what song was playing?
Yup.
God is on the Move.
Guess what I did?
Yup.

via GIPHY
Sang.
Danced.
Praised God.
My husband and son smiled.
I don't normally do that in front of people, but joy filled my heart and I just had to let it bubble out!

So, this morning God is on the Move was on my heart.  I listened to it several times.
Really loudly.

Guess what happened?
Yup.
Joy.
Singing.
Dancing.

On my way home tonight my radio lost it's signal.  Guess what played when it came back.

Yup.

Here's my challenge.
Listen to this song several times.
Loudly.
You won't be able to resist
dancing or singing.

If by some weird occurrence you do,

I bet you'll at least be smiling and maybe even tapping your foot!

Go on.

Take a minute.
Give it a shot.

What have you got to lose?

And you might even dance!
Current Works

During car trips, conversations and waiting times, I've been working on my butterfly shawl.  I love the mindless crocheting of a granny square.  I first blogged about it here.  You can find the pattern here.

To Do Tuesday

Here's my list from last week:
1) Covered in Love blocks - at least 3-4
Done! I made a total of six!  You can see them here!
2) Add two hexagons to my Hexagon Afghan Done! I added three hexies plus crocheted some more individual hexies because I'm starting to run low!
3) Turn my Simple Scrappy Sampler into a at least a 50% flimsy.  How to measure this one?  Well, I finished sewing half of the compensating strips on all my blocks and have cut out all of the tops and bottom strips.  I'll be continuing this goal!

New To Do Tuesday Goals

1) Keep up with my Quilty 365
2) Continue crocheting the rest of the gold hexies.
3) Continue on my Simple Scrappy Sampler .
        a) attach the rest of the compensating strips
    b) cut out the background squares
4) Get assistance with my Fabri-Flair project!
