Still Stitching #7. Yo-Yo's. Book Date. Waiting.

So far, we’ve looked at these principles which I’ve begun learning and implementing in my life with my loved one.
The first was:
 Then we looked at:
And now we are looking at:

As I was thinking about how to discuss this point, I realized that we are discussing detachment with love:  letting our loved one deal with the natural consequence of their behavior instead of rescuing them.

Oh boy!  Was this a hard lesson to learn – it still is – and sometimes I fail miserably.  But, as I pondered this point, the LROD spoke to me and said,
“When you are detaching with love,
you are NOT throwing your hands up
and quitting on your loved one.
When you detach with love,
you are releasing them TO ME.”

Big difference.  I am NOT throwing my loved one into the great abyss of living out their natural consequences, I AM throwing them into the loving arms of my Father – of THEIR Father.

Remember this point?

I know….it’s an excruciatingly painful process.
And the results are unknown.
It’s during this time, I could – and continue to lean on His everlasting arms.
His will be done.

Until next time, Dear Reader.

Yo-Yo's
Ever since I finished my Felt Nativity Calendar for my grandkids, I've been debating which hand sewing project to work on next.  I decided to pull out my yo-yo project.  Here is the next section.
It feels good to be working on this one as my portable sewing project!

Ordinary GraceI'm listening to Ordinary Grace and enjoying it as well.  I keep wondering what will happen....

Waiting
Here's the deal.
Yesterday I noticed changes in my breast - "the" breast that had cancer in 2014.

My doctor has ordered a 3D, diagnostic mammogram as well as an ultrasound "just in case."

Circumstances dictate that I can have the mammo on Wednesday morning.

So I wait.
I know the rules of this journey.
It's takes a lot of waiting.

So I wait.
While I wait, Something Heavenly by Sanctus Real is my anthem:

The chorus is my prayer:

Whatever you're doing inside of me

It feels like chaos somehow there's peace

It's hard to surrender to what I can't see

But I'm giving in to something heavenly

Philippians 3:15. Twisting Away! New Feature! I Like!

Philippians 3:15.
Scripture
Observation
Paul is saying that his view is correct.  He is trusting God to make clear this point of view to those who think differently about this (Philippians 3:1-4).
Application
Wow!  Now THAT is confidence!  Paul is so sure he is correct - and I agree with him.  To those who don't agree he is saying:
1) they are immature in the LORD
and
2) he is trusting God to show them the Truth.

Very interesting.

How many do we know that are faltering in their faith?
in their lives?

And it worries us.
And it concernes us.
And try as we might to not let it,
it affects our lives as well.

What wisdom is in this verse for us!
15 All of us, then,
who are mature
should take such a view of things.
And if on some point
you think differently,
that too God will make clear to you.
Philippians 3:1

I can share a bit of my story - but only a bit because the majority of the story isn't mine to tell.

We see someone going through growing pains, hurting, trying to make the right decisions and live out those wise decisions in spite of the pain they may cause.

We love them.
We want the best for them.
And all we can do is pray for them
as they, together with God,
make their way.

But, pray is not just ALL we can do.
It's a ton.
It's powerful.
May you - and I - find comfort in this as we pray for ourselves and then our loved ones:

Let us also remember this:

Prayer
Abba, You know my heart today.  My prayer is simple.  I pray this for myself and for my loved ones today:
9 And this is my prayer:
that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,
10 so that you may be able to discern what is best
and may be pure and blameless
for the day of Christ,

11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—
to the glory and praise of God.
Philippians 1:9-11

Abba,

I also know that
this verse and song are true!
I claim them for myself
and my loved ones
today - and always.
Amen!

Twisting Away!
I'm continuing to enjoy progress on my Pretzel Twist!  Four more blocks have been completed
and I've laid out

the last three blocks
on my cutting table!

I'm hoping to get this one
to Stephanie this Saturday
so that she can work
her long arm magic!!

New Feature!
Once upon a time, a very long time ago, this quilter took inventory of her fabric stash.....and promised herself never, ever, ever to do that again!  However, I do need some kind of accountability if I'm truly going to meet my goal of sewing through my stash.

Maggie @ Making a Lather keeps a very simple stash report.  I've decided to follow her format for both (gulp!) my fabric and yarn stash beginning June 11, 2016 and ending December 31, 2016.  Then I'll begin a new year in January.

Thus far, it has really helped me to NOT buy fabric - except for this 2 cuts - both 1/3 yards!  :)

So, just so you'll see, Here is my stash report thus far.

Instead of posting it once a month, I'll post it every time I buy fabric/yarn.  Otherwise, I may "forget"!

Today is a slower day, perfect for some

Mason
Jar
Soup!

Drunkard's Path Block
Though I didn't get this sewn up, I managed to cut out all the pieces!  I think it will be pretty once it's all sewn up!
A Song
I think I mentioned that my city doesn't have a Cancer Care Support Group for Spanish speakers.  Thankfully, the wonderful lady who hosts ours is willing to mentor me so that I can start one!

I'm concerned that with these Fibromyalgia flare-ups, I may not be able to be consistent in my attendance.  Yes, there will be a co-host, (hopefully a nurse/social worker)but I want to be there as well.  It may seem arrogant because I'm sure my co-host will be able to take care of things.  But I do want to consistently be there for the participants.

Then I remembered this song:

Suzy Tat
Last, but not least, is a cool little crocheting and knitting tool that I absolutely love!
It's called a "Suzy Tat"!  I purchased it at Quillen's Fiber Arts and the owner, Diedre (she's totally cool), told me it's called a "Suzy Tat".  They are made locally by Jim Hurley, so if you support your local businesses this is a 2fer!

I love purchasing yarn from Quillin Fiber Arts, but here you can see that the Suzy Tat also works well with chain store yarns!  I've been using my Suzy Tat while making my Hexagon Afghan.  As you can see, it holds my hexies that are waiting for their beige borders, as well as scissors!

When I take those off,
I have my yarn and crochet hook
ready to stitch!

Then, I simply pull up on my yarn,
and wala!
Tangle free crocheting!
Now, if you're using yarn
that is wound into a cake,
no problem!
You just pull from the outside!
The top part spins
as you pull your yarn!
Uninterrupted stitching!

I'm not receiving anything
for sharing this product,
except the joy I get from using it!
If you like it,
I'm sure she'd work with you
to mail it out!

One Thing Remains. Slow Stitching with Fabri Flair!

Hello Everyone!
I'm so glad you stopped by on this beautiful Spring morning in Southern New Mexico!  The birds are joyfully singing, the waterfall is cheerfully chortling,
the breeze is blowing gently - for now :),

my babies are snoozing next to me on our swing
and the blooms are bathing us with their sweet scents!
If I have to have a fibro flare, this is the place to have it!

Thank you all for your kind comments and well wishes.
I'm doing about the same.
As we were leaving church,
the worship team played this song.
It's our song -
God's and mine.

I sat right back down,
praying and weeping.
God is going to be
taking me on a journey.
All He asks is
that I trust Him.
And I do.
So, here we go again!
I have a beautiful yard and home,
loving husband and children,
grandbabies (!),
supportive friends
in person and online,
a part-time job,
sewing, crafts,
and more importantly God.
I am so blessed!

Slow Stitching with Fabri Flair!
I'm making progress on my Fabri Flair Brio Sphere bowl!  The baby quilt interrupted our progress, but it was fun to work on it yesterday, especially as it all fits nicely into my portable basket!
This is the bottom piece.  It's almost finished, except for about 1" of stitching.

Here's the inside view:
In order to for the inner bowl pieces to fit,
I will need to trim them
by 1/16" on each side.

I missed

Full Disclosure....
My daughter and I were
visiting and sewing....
I lost track of time!
Stop by for a visit!
You're sure to find some
beautiful projects there!

Did You Accept My Challenge? A FAST Tutorial For A Portable Sewing Kit. Charity Sewing

Did You Accept My Challenge?
I wonder if anyone accepted the challenge I posted here?  I hope so!  If you did, tell me about it in the comments or email me (miaismine22@gmail.com).  I'd love to hear about your experience!

Give it a shot if you haven't already.

These lyrics really encouraged me.  So, I decided to deviate a bit from our study of Philippians to share a bit about them and how they encouraged me!

God is on the Move Lyric Study

Any time a heart turns from darkness to light

Any time temptation comes and someone stands to fight

Any time somebody lives to serve and not be served
I know, I know, I know, I know

God is on the move, on the move
Hallelujah
God is on the move
In many mighty ways

God is on the move, on the move
Hallelujah
God is on the move
On the move today
I wonder,
has your heart turned from darkness to light?  Have you had the privilege of witnesses someone’s radical change in their lives?

Or perhaps you or someone you know has stood up to fight temptation?  I know someone who stand and fights victoriously EVERYDAY!  He amazes me.  You know who your are….

How many times have you served instead of been served?  That is the majority of the loving quilting community I’ve been privileged to know.  You have hearts of gold.  You are my blessing.

I need only remember the one who stands and fights and you all to know God is on the move!

What about you?  I’d love to hear about your experience! Please let me know in the comments or email at miaismine22@gmail.com!

A Mini Tutorial For
Portable Sewing Kit
updated:  4/6/17

Thank you, Susan, for mentioning the magnets!  I totally forgot to finish the tutorial!  Sighhhh, I must be getting old!  :) Scroll down to see the "rest of the story"!

I bet most of you enjoy taking
your hand sewing projects
with you whenever
you leave your home.

I do.
I always have a selection of projects that
I can grab and go at a moments notice!

A good friend gave me a tin that has become my "go-to" tool!
It only took about five minutes
to put together!

Here's how I did it!

Gather your materials:
a metal container,
extra metal bobbins filled with thread,
one magnet for each bobbin
plus 2 additional magnets,
needles,
small folding scissors,
whatever thimbles you use,
a finger cot,
a couple of Wonder Clips
and, of course,
Thread Heaven!
Thread Heaven makes my
hand sewing experience "heavenly"!  :)

Is there another tool that you add to
your portable sewing kit that I missed?
I'd love to hear about it!
Please let us know in the comments!

Place the thimbles, Finger Cots,
Wonder Clips and Thread Heaven
in the base of your tin container.

Then, add some magnets to your lid.

I use them to hold my bobbins filled with the colors of thread I need at the time,

as well as my needles and scissors!

Perfect for my Fabri-Flair project!

Just a reminder about Covered In Love's block drive!  Here is the tutorial for these fun 3D blocks!  Here is where I wrote about them and offered some tips for the "nervous about 3D blocks" group!
I loved learning how to make them!  Wouldn't they make a fun baby quilt with those 3D blocks?
