Saturday's Song: Still Rolling Stones. Slow Stitching. Stash Report

Saturday's Song

The lyrics to this song are so powerful!  At first, it sounds like it’s all about Jesus rising from the grave, but then I realized it’s about us – rising from our own personal graves in answer to the voice of our LORD and Savior!

As we rise, we come alive with open eyes – eyes that see.  We become victorious.  Sometimes that victory doesn’t look like victory to those looking in from the outside, but no matter!  It is OUR victory and it is quite personal.  The chains of darkness of insecurity, of pain, of secrets, of whatever our chains are fall powerless to the ground as we cry out to our LORD and Savior.  We are free and our eyes now see!

We rise up with open eyes, with power, with confidence as we shake off the grave and move with power in His name.  The darkness should have known it could not keep us captive forever.

My dear reader, we are never too far gone, bound by our sins, our fears, our chains!  Though we may have dug our own grave, as we respond to our LORD and Savior’s call, we become alive, with our eyes open to the lies of the defeated one!  We run with victory and power as our Savior joyfully receives us with open arms!

Will you answer His call?  Will you become free?  Will you face your own chains, turn them over to Jesus and be free?  It’s difficult, my dear, but also so very wonderful to be free!

Confession time:   I have not touched my hand piecing project.

This month my husband and I went to the Taos (New Mexico) Wool Festival and It. Was. Wonderful.  We stayed at a fantastic AirBnB and - yup - I bought yarn, and more yarn.

Needless to say, I've been crocheting a ton!  I  finished two cowls before I even got home!
The yarn is from the Good Medicine  Sheep Ranch in Lyons, Colorado.  It was easy to work with and washed up nice and soft. My husband bought an actual sheepskin as well!
The yarn is from Zombiepenguen Yarns and also worked up fast and is so very soft.  I bought quite a few hanks from Guenevere - she and her husband are so fun!

Now I'm working on a lovely shawl
from Tamara Kelly over at Moogly!  Mine is no where as lacy as her's but the beautiful yarn makes up for my mistakes!
The yarn is from the Wooly Lizard in Cortez, Colorado.
I'll be sharing my yarn purchases on Thursday as I link up to Lee Ann's I Like Thursday party at Not Afraid of Color!  Guess what I like?  Yup!  Yarn!

Either way, this week I at least pulled out my hand piecing  and will hopefully put down my yarn for a bit of hand sewing.

Philippians 4:7 Part 2. Prayer Shawl #3 Finished! To Do Tuesday

Philippians 4:7 Part 2
Part 1

Verses 4-6 teach us how to obtain this peace that passes all understanding, but how do we pray?  How do we present our requests to God?

Let me tell you, my prayers are sometimes with joy or tears.  But lately, they have been with great authority and indignation and even shouted!  I have let God know how much I believe in Him, His Son and His Holy Spirit!  I have reminded Him of His promises and broken through my fear to victory!  I have been a passionate lawyer advocating for myself and my loved ones!

Meekness and quietness are necessary and certainly have their place - as does passion, authority and indignation!

Look how the indignant child runs to their parent screaming after their big brother/sister has hit them!

We can - and certainly should do the same with our Abba!

For me - it's powerful and releasing.  I can then turn to my problems and the evil one and say, "There you go!  My Abba will get you now!"  And He does!

The result is a peace that
- passes all understanding,
- my heart is guarded by this peace,
- my mind guarded by this peace and is focused on Christ:
even if the answer was unexpected.

Does this happen all the time?
Nope.
But I'm working on it - with my Abba and my Big Brother guarding and guiding me.

Prayer Shawl #3 Finished!
I finally finished my third prayer shawl.  This one is going to a friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer.
I used Fireside in Lotus Blossom by Yarn Bee which is sold by Hobby Lobby.

My pattern is my go to pattern from Fiber Flux.  Here you can see how a different yarn and hook size can make all the difference in the world!  My only changes to the pattern were using an "N" hook and adding pockets.

Philippians 4:7 Part 1. Back to a Drunkard's Path. Book Date.

Philippians 4:7 Part 1
Scripture
Observation

We can have the true peace of God that defies understanding and also will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ!  This is a promise!  How do we grab hold of it?  Read on my dear!

Application

1.  We rejoice in the LORD - always.
2.  We are gently to all.
3.  We know and accept that our LORD is near.
4.  We rebuke anxiousness always.
5.  In every situation - good/bad - we go to our Abba with thanksgiving and ask for what we need.

Then we will have
- the peace that passes all understanding
and
- this peace will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus!!

How do we go to our Abba?
To avoid a much too long post, please read my experiences and thoughts in my next post.

Back to a Drunkard's Path
I've picked up this UFO and am determined to turn it into a flimsy, make the backing and get it off to my LAQ this week.

This is my $7.50 BOM layout.
This will be my 3" sashing.

This might be my accent border.  It will be pretty thin, I think.....you know how the creative process is....
I'm not sure about quilting patterns to suggest to Stephanie.  I know she wants my input, but I know almost nothing about quilting design. I'm learning a lot by reading Nancy's Grace Peace and Quilting.  I'm sure I would like something special in the borders, but other than that...we'll see!

I'm still reading Own It! by Michael and Heyley Di Marco. I'm realizing that it helps me to take notes on what I'm learning...perhaps that is a bit too persnickity...and that's ok with me!  :)

Philippians 4:5. . Prayer Shawl. Orange Peel Quilting. To Do Tuesday.

Philippians 4:5
Scripture
Observation

So, Paul is saying, be free from harshness, sternness or violence toward all.  I wonder if he is thinking of the two women who were quarreling?

Application
Oh my!  In a past life I was so harsh and stern!  All that ugliness in me was simply a survival tool to hide the hurt and pain.  My attitude was, "I will hurt you before you hurt me."
I can still fall back into that state, but not very often indeed!  It's a miracle of God that my spirit is now more gentle.  Praise Him for the slow, gentle work He achieves in our lives!

I wonder if our gentleness increases as we become increasingly aware that "the LORD is near?"  I believe so!  That is the only way I could be so drastically different!

Prayer
Oh LORD, thank You for this verse!  I truly believe that Your faithful presence in my life has slowly and gently peeled away my layers of harshness and sternness.  You have wrought in me a new Spirit!  Thank You!

Prayer Shawls
I attend a cancer support group it's called Cancer Care that meets in a church.  At the same time we are meeting, a wonderful group of ladies meet to crochet/knit prayer shawls.  Every first time attender of our group get to choose a prayer shawl for themselves!  I have decided to support this wonderful cause and here's the first shawl!
It went from this:
to this in less than a week!

My pattern is from The Crocheted Prayer Shawl Companion.  This book offers many different shawl patterns for all skill levels.  I used about 8 oz. of a Red Heart yarn from my stash and a "K" hook.

I decided to use this yarn to make another one for my recently diagnosed friend.

 It's a good beginning, don't you think?

Here's a close up:
The pattern is quite simple, yet so elegant!
