As I prepped for this study, I simply highlight all the words that describe what God does for us in my Bible and make a list of them in my journal. I'll follow the same format here.
The Fool Says There Is No God
For the choirmaster. Of David.
1 The foola says in his heart,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt; their acts are vile.
There is no one who does good.
2The LORD looks down from heaven upon the sons of men
to see if any understand,
if any seek God.
3All have turned away,
they have together become corrupt;b
there is no one who does good,
not even one.c
4Will the workers of iniquity never learn?
They devour my people like bread;
they refuse to call upon the LORD.
5There they are, overwhelmed with dread,
for God is in the company of the righteous.
6You sinners frustrate the plans of the oppressed,
yet the LORD is their shelter.
7Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from Zion!
When the LORD restores His captive people,
let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad!
Psalm 14
- The LORD looks down from Heaven on all mankind
- The LORD seeks any who understand
- The LORD seeks any who seek Him
- The LORD is present in the company of the righteous
- The LORD is a refuge for the poor
- The LORD restores His people

Life I've said before, whenever I read the word "but" I pay attention. The evildoers, the ones described in verses 3-5, may frustrate the poor for a season. Who are the poor? Friend,
the poor are the vulnerable, the marginalized, the oppressed, widows, orphans, foreigners, among others.
God sees them, He is their refuge. Is an evildoer affecting your life? If you answer yes, be patient. God is your refuge. I know. I've been there.
I once asked God where He was during an extremely traumatic event in my own life. He graciously brought me back to the setting of the event and said, "Look. I was standing right there by your right shoulder." Even if He chose not to stop the event, since then He has showing me I was in His hands surrounded by His love. Oh, and that painful event? I changed in my perspective. At the time, it caused trauma, but today it has given me more empathy, more love, more compassion, more of Him. Thank you, Jesus!
Ah yes, those evildoers bringing frustration to the poor. But let us not get too judgmental. At times, we as believers, are not perfect. We can bring frustration to the poor, to our loved ones, to anyone. I know I am guilty of this action. Thank God the LORD is their refuge and after the Holy Spirit shows us the error of our ways, we can repent and ask forgiveness from both God and the person we hurt. Thank God for His mercy and grace!
Let us humbly accept forgiveness. Whenever we recall our sin, let us remember and hopefully have peace knowing that God was with those we hurt, He was their refuge as well.
That recipe looks so versatile and good! I enjoyed your encouraging verses and story about God standing by your right shoulder. Your spiderweb topper is beautiful! The rain video is lovely, and so is your sweet kitty.
ReplyDeleteI can sew if I have someone right here guiding me. Before I do that, I have to set up the machine and make sure I have all the supplies I need. Still, I would love to do that table topper. Maybe my aunt can show me the next time we have a sewing retreat.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a lovely week, Patricia.
Your jalapeño tabletopper is so fun, Patricia! I love the colors and the fun pepper fabric. Thanks for linking to the tutorial - I'd like to try that!
ReplyDeleteI have not worked on my quilting stuff in quite some time. I don't like my space in our rental house, and it's so hard to motivate myself to go in there and work. I hope you have a great week!
