Philippians 2:27 Part 4. Quilty 365. To Do Tuesday

Hello!  Welcome to my little space in "Bloglandia"!  We are continuing with our study of Philippians.  We're in Philippians 2:27 and this is Part 4.  I split it the "Application" part of our study into several parts because, to me, this is a hard teaching that required me to marinate in it for a spell.

I'm so glad you're joining me for this last part!  I pray you are blessed and encouraged!

Philippians 2:27 Part 4

Application con't
In Part 1 we talked about God's mercy and Paul's use of the word "but" again.  Part 2 discussed the phrase "sorrow upon sorrow".  We continued our discussion of this phase of our lives in Part 3 adding that God uses these times in to grow and strengthen our faith.

We aren't asked to understand God's will, only to have faith and trust Him.

As some of you many unfortunately know firsthand, when one is initially diagnosed with cancer, there seems to be an endless round of tests, labs and waiting before treatment can even begin.  During my "pre-treatment" time, I didn't know if I would need a lumpectomy, mastectomy, bi-lateral mastectomy, chemo and radiation....we didn't know anything.  For several weeks it was pretty bleak as the doctors fought to learn just what my situation was.

I remember crying in my husband's arms on the exam table when we were told there might be a second mass.  I looked back over my entries to find my sorrow upon sorrow experience.  The journey is here and here.  This is the first time I've reread those posts...it was hard.

But God was still good,
even before I had results.
I don't have all the answers.
But I do know this:
My faith wasn't always this strong.
It's only by His Grace that
it was back then and still is.
And I'm grateful for that.

Prayer
My prayer today is simply this:
LORD,
You are so amazing!
Amen!

Quilty 365 News
I kept up with March 2017's blocks!  Yea!  Here's the last week of March and April 1 & 2!  Yellow is for happy days and red is usually reserved for angry/frustrating days.  But, this circle looks so happy that I just had to use it for Sunday!  We celebrated my birthday and this circle just seemed to embody the day!

I'm a bit behind in blogging, but really enjoyed my birthday week!  Yup, you read that right!  In our family, the birthday person is celebrated for an entire week with fun, small activities!  This week it's time to celebrate my daughter!  I'll be sharing what I made her tomorrow!

To Do Tuesday
Here's how I did last week!

1) Keep up with my Quilty 365
OOPS!

2) Continue crocheting my Granny Square Cardigan!  Done!

3) Continue on my Simple Scrappy Sampler .
        a) attach the rest of the purple sashing and figure out the last border.  Maybe get it sewn on so I can get this baby to my beloved long-arm quilter!
I changed the pattern a bit, so here's the new layout.  I'll share more about it later on.
Flimsy done and going to Stephanie!
4) Begin stitching my Fabri-Flair project! Done!

Not a bad week at all!

This week's To Do Tuesday List:
1) Catch up and keep up with my Quilty 365

2) Continue crocheting my Granny Squares Cardigan!

3) Begin a baby quilt with the scraps from the Simple Scrappy Sampler!

4) Continue stitching my Fabri-Flair project!

Philippians 2:27 Part 3. Scrappy Sampler Progress!

Hello there!  It's good to see you again!  If this is your first time here, welcome!

This is the Scripture we are looking at this week.  I've broken it down into four parts because the "Application" part of our study is quite long and a bit deep.  In case you're jumping in the middle, in Part 1 we talked about God's mercy and Paul's use of the word "but" again.  Part 2 discussed the phrase "sorrow upon sorrow".  We'll continue on this discussion today.
Application con't
In your life's journey, have you encountered situations where it seemed like God didn't heal?
like you were experiencing "sorrow upon sorrow"?

I have.
I have seen pain in my own life - some self-inflicted, some inflicted upon me, some is just life.
Sadly,
I have seen loved ones die from illness.
I have seen friends mourn the deaths of their loved ones.
It seems so confusing when it appears that God has chosen not to heal.

A friend was praying for a young man who passed away last week from lung and brain cancer.  He left behind a loving wife and three children.  His six-year-old daughter said, "I want to talk to my daddy.  I'm only six years old.  This isn't fair."

And she's right.  During these times in our lives, it's truly a faith walk.  I have found that if I'm I'm honest with God in those times as well, He get me through with victory.  Sometimes, it takes time to feel victorious, but it happens!

Take heart my dear reader - especially if you seem to be in this situation!  I hear your pain!

Prayer
God, sometimes I don't understand Your will. Sometimes I do get angry with You, I get frustrated and scared.  But, You have brought me through much pain, sorrow and fear!  And, my dear Abba Father,
You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
Genesis 50:20 | image tagged in ocean | made w/ Imgflip meme makerYou have been so gracious to show me how You used many of these situations (even my own mistakes!) for Your glory!
Because of that, I have greater faith and strength and I know the victory is mine! Thank You Abba Father!
Amen.

Scrappy Sampler Progress!
I really wanted this layout for my Simple Scrappy Sampler, but it would make the quilt bigger than I wanted.
So this is my new layout!
I'm really liking the
purple sashing and plan to add cornerstones to the horizontal sashing (as suggested by my daughter)!
Hopefully this will be a flimsy

by the end of the week!

Philipppians 2:27 Part 2. Shawl Progress! To Do Tuesday

Hello There!
I'm so glad you've stopped by for a visit! Pull up a chair!  I hope you enjoy our study of the book of Philippians!

Here is where we started Philippians 2:27! Let's continue it to learn about God's grace and mercy!

Philipppians 2:27 Part 2
Scripture
Observation
God indeed had mercy on Epaphroditus, Paul and the Philippians with Epaphroditus' healing.  Paul says that the LORD spared him "sorrow upon "sorrow".
Application
Paul being in prison was indeed a sorrow as his deep desire to serve God fully may have seemed to him to be thwarted by his circumstances.  Then, had Epaphroditus passed away from his illness, that would have been sorrow upon sorrow!  And Paul praises God for this grace and mercy.
I'll continue this tomorrow!

Shawl Progress!
I was able to add a few more rows to the Granny Square Cardigan!  This project is coming along beautifully!
Remember, the tutorial is here!

It needs to be 41"X41" to be done.  Right now it measures about 27"X27", so I'm almost there!

God is on the Move! Fabri-Flair

God is on the Move!
When I first wrote about this song, I issued a challenge to everyone.  I have to ask again - did you do it?  What happened?  Please let me know!  I'm still dancing by the way!  :)

I see a generation
Standing on the truth
In each and every nation
God is on the move

Any time the gospel stirs a searching soul
And someone says, “Send me, here I go”
I know, I know, I know, I know

God is on the move, on the move
Hallelujah
God is on the move
In many mighty ways

God is on the move, on the move
Hallelujah
God is on the move
On the move today

I see a generation
Standing on the truth
In each and every nation
God is on the move

Yes!  I see hope in our young people.  I’m not blind or wearing rose colored glasses.  I see
our young quilters and their big hearts,
young people fighting and standing for God,
young people trying with everything they have to do right.

I have confirmation with this stanza.  God has been moving in my life and my heart.

He has shown me that there is a real need in my town that I can meet!

I love my Cancer Care Support Group.  It’s the one place I can speak very freely about my
experience and it’s effect on  me,
my family and
my loved ones,
our fears,
our hopes,
our dreams.
I can learn from and love other survivors.
We “get” each other.

But there is no such group for Spanish speakers!
Sooooo, yup,
You guessed it!
I’m starting one!
We are in the initial stages, but I’m doing this!
I’m so excited and grateful
for this opportunity,
and for the those who are willing to support or mentor me! Would you please pray for us as we move forward?

God is on the move, loved ones!  God is on the move!

Fabri-Flair
Remember when I wrote about this gift from the owner of my LQS?  Well, I finally chose the fabric for this project!

Here's what the kit looks like when you open it.  The brochure has great ideas and the instructions are amazing!  Of course, there are 24 templates.  I just took the picture after I covered 18 of them!  :)

Here's the outer fabric all cut up, glued and ready to go!  What do you think?  I'm so excited to begin stitching!

This is the fabric I'm using for the inside of the bowl.  Aren't those hexagons the cutest?
The remaining six templates need to be trimmed 1/16" on two sides.  Yikes!
After a bit of research, I figured out how to achieve this quite simply!

I am so excited to complete this project!  Can you guess who it's going to?

Philippians 2:27 Part 1. Simply Scrappy Sampler

Hello Everyone!
Wow!  The response to God is on the Move was fantastic!  I'm so glad you shared your stories!  You've encouraged me so much!  Thank you!

Onto our Bible Study and Crafty News!

Philippians 2:27
A Quick Review

Just as a reminder, these were the verses leading up to Philippians 2:27.  We taked about how Epaphroditus was immensly valuable to Paul.  Then we talked about Epaphroditus' distress because he heard that the Philippians learned he was ill.

Let's look at Philippians 2:27!
Scripture
Observation
Paul confirms that indeed Epaphroditus was seriously ill.  Then he uses that word again:  but.
But God had mercy on not only him but also on Paul.  Mercy upon mercy.

Application
This Scripture is so rich with meaning!  I love it!  Paul cofirms the illness Epaphroditus had, but he gives God the glory for working in his body to heal him. That's how I feel about my journey - yes I was sick, but God allowed me to heal.

Last night at our Cancer Care Group a really new survivor is plagued with fear about it coming back.  This is so normal and common.  I remember being there as well.

I was so happy to share my experience, strength and hope with her!  Though the cancer has not returned in 1 year 4 months (Yea!), I do sometimes struggle with survivor's guilt as I see my friends experience metastasis or re-occurrences. My strength and hope comes from God, my family, loved ones, this blog and you.

Simply Scrappy Sampler
I'm about halfway finished with the the compensating borders for my squares!  Next, up is cutting the background squars and making the border!  Since I bought my sister's wedding quilt fabric, I need to finish this Sampler up this week!  Hope I can!

Here is the pile of finished blocks!
Only a few more to go!
Well, maybe more than a few......
I'm gonna be busy!
