Philippians 4:8 Part 2. Craft Project Management System. Quilty 365.

Philippians 4:8 Part 2
Part 1 Part 3
Scripture
Observation
A list of what to focus on, what to think about.  Each attribute is considered excellent and praiseworthy.
Application
So, lately I've been pondering this verse - a lot.  It would be wonderful if we could always think on these things, but the truth is we can't.
Life happens.
Consequently,
our thinking gets distorted.
So, what do we think then?
That's what I've
been thinking about.
What do we think then?
What do you thinkthen?
What do I think then?
Sometimes,
my thinking is just the opposite of this verse.
I've decided to combat my
negative thinking
with God's Word.
A quick search of
"You Say, God Says"
showed many cool printables.
Here are links to a few.
(with a cool mini tutorial on making your own Scripture cards)
May I encourage you to memorize Scripture?  Friends, I firmly believe that, combined with praise and worship music, this is one of the major ways to encourage ourselves, to fight the enemy and to live out Philippians 4:8 victoriously.

Prayer
LORD, I need a way to live out Philippians 4:8.   For so many of us, it's so much easier to negative, ugly thoughts.  Help us to fill our minds with Your Word.  Help Your Word come to our minds in ALL times that we may live victoriously all the time.  After all, I've believed for many years that
You are good all the time and
all the time, You are good!
Amen!

Simple Minds
Here's a funny story.  I used this mind map - Simple Mind+ - as my craft project management system.  I worked my way from 0% to 33% finished WIPs!  I don't know hat got into me, but I forgot about it and used a different system this year -
with no way to track my progress.  I've decided to go back to Simple Mind+ again starting September 25, 2017.

Very Happy CatI was able to go through all my projects - again - and found a bunch more WIPs!  I've also decided to be happy about them - even though my WIP now number at 63!  Remember Philippians 4:8?  God's timing is perfect.
I already finished a boot cuff set, so my completion rate is a whopping .015%!  I have a long way to go, but it's better than 0%!  (All encouragement is gratefully accepted!)  :)

Quilty 365
Well, on September 11, 2016 I started quite accidentally the Quilty 365 journey.  I finished it this month.   It's been fun and I look forward to making a quilt out of all my squares.  Here are August's and September's blocks!
How exciting it that?  It's been a real journey as this was the time I was recovering from chemotherapy during this time and sometimes it was really hard to keep up.

But I did it.
Sure enough, I did it.
By the grace of God, I did it.

God is good all the time;
all the time, God is good.

Philippians 4:3. Patrick's Strength. To Do Tuesday

Philippians 4:3
Scripture
Observation
Paul is asking a mystery companion to assist in the reconciliation of these two ladies.
Application
I wonder....if I was one of these two women, what would I do?  How would I feel after hearing Paul's plea?

In a church we attended when my kids were teens, there was a time of contention between myself and anther person.  The conflict was regarding our kids.....

At that time, the mama bear in me was roaring to fight and defend my kids....

To this day I stiffen at how the whole situation was handled by our pastor.

Sure there are times when we are wrong and must take responsibility and ask for forgiveness.  But...what if we are the ones wronged?

First and foremost, God's Word and His work in me led to a new maturity.   The book, A Tale of Three Kings A Study in Brokeness by Gene Edwards helped me through this time.  Mr. Edwards' work helped me to heal and grow in grace.
Finally, the slogans of a 12 Step Program have helped.

We who make up the church are only human.
We will hurt others.
We will be hurt.

LET US NOT BLAME GOD FOR THIS!

He is not human and His heart breaks to see these situations!

If we hurt others, let us seek forgiveness and reconciliation!

If we have been hurt, let us seek healing and forgiveness.

Let us remember:

Prayer
Oh boy, LORD!  That was a tough trip down Memory Lane!  Thank You for showing me how You have worked so diligently and deeply in my life!  You have brought me so far!

Those times still bother me, but I now know that if I were to see those people again I could genuinely smile and greet them with Your love and concern for their welfare!  That in itself is a great miracle!

Thank You my LORD and Savior!  Bless those who are hurting/have hurt others.  Bring unity and healing to our country, hurting people and especially in our churches.

I love You so, LORD!  Thank You for loving me - even when I wasn't very lovable!

Amen.

Philippians 4:2 Part 1. Quilty 365. Fiber Stash Report. Reading.

Philippians 4:2
Scripture
Observation
Paul is again striving for unity in the church - in the family.
Application
Paul pleading?
Yes, this is how important unity among believers is to him - to all of us.  Difficult I know.

Believe me, I know.

As I began pondering this verse today, I wondered how in the world I could comment on it without being hypocritical.

There are those that I would definitely struggle to be of the "same mind".  Who knows what these two ladies quarreled about, but it must have been serious for 1) news of their quarrel to reach Paul and 2) for him to comment - even plead - for peace.

There are just a few instances when I have indeed quarreled with a sister/brother in the church.

But something changed.
The difference?

Many times
this all
I need to remember.

This helps
as well.

IN NO WAY
DOES THIS
COVER ALL SITUATIONS!

FOR ME, these slogans cover most situations.  However, I realize that some conflicts are quite serious and need to be addressed and worked out, perhaps with church leadership guidance.

As we have already seen in our study, unity in the church is vital, therefore conflicts must be addressed and settled - no matter how difficult it can be.

This is a difficult verse to discuss, so I revert to Jesus:  How did He deal with conflict?

To be continued.

Prayer
Oh my LORD!  How difficult this verse is to deal with - especially as I am so uncomfortable with this topic.  Yet, I find myself guided here.

So many of us have been deeply wounded by church politics.  I certainly don't want to add to anyone's pain - or my own.  Yet, I know You are guiding me.  Please be with me as we continue this study!  Let me not add to pain, but perhaps be Your instrument of healing, understanding and peace.

I know you have a reason for taking me down this road that I am carefully walking.  Be with me, O My LORD!
Amen!

Quilty 365
I've been keeping up with my Quilty 365, especially now that I'm just a couple of months away form finishing!
Yes, three black circles (representing pain/great fatigue) in the first nine days.  But I decided to add a twist to those black circles.
You see, on July 2 we went up to the mountains to celebrate Baby M2's birthday!  I was determined to run, play and thoroughly enjoy my grandbabies.  So I did.
Yes, the pain cam later, but it was so worth it!  On the 4th of July, I made the same decision to play....so pain followed.

In my eyes, it was a good pain that resulted from my decision to live a full and happy life - despite the consequences!

So, I altered those pesky black circles! Yes, they still represent pain/fatigue, but it's a day that I smile at the memories created.  Fibromyalgia has it's effect on me, but it won't rule my life again, if I can help it!

Once I complete a project or have it ready for Stephanie, I consider it "used".  Soon, I'll be in the black with yarn as Patrick's Strength is almost done!

Reading.
Do you find it hard to find time to read?  Between Bible study, sewing, crocheting, household responsibilities, family and my awesome grandkids, I certainly do!  Link ups help me to accomplish my goals!  So, I'll be linking up to It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading? @ Book Date to share what I'm reading!  I hope you check it out!

Currently I'm reading Younger Next Year by Chris Crowley and Henry S. Lodge, M.D.  A good friend recommended the book.  I'm barely on chapter 3, but so far the idea of changing my lifestyle to live a healthier life is not new.  I'm curious to see what changes these author's recommend.

A New Project. Saturday's Song. Quilty 365

A New Project.
Hi there!  I had so much fun today!  Every first Saturday of the month my LQS (local quilt shop) has a FAB class - "Fabric Acquisition Babes"! Don't you just love that name? Every month there is a different project, with a few Saturdays dedicated to "UFO's" (unfinished objects).

There were about 8 of us in the class.  I learned that this group has been getting together for decades!  They are a tight knit group and warmly welcomed me as one of their own!  It was an awesome  experience!

We began this quilt.

Here's my first block.
It has a ton of HST's, so this will be a leader/ender project for a bit.  :)

Saturday's Song.
Here is a song my grandbabies are learning!  Get ready to dance!

Did you dance?  :)

A Wimp No More! Part 1 Stash Report. Patrick's Strength

A Wimp No More! Part 1
Part 2 is here
I'm going to deviate a bit from our study on Philippians to share a testimony.  I have had a HUGE breakthrough in my walk with Christ!

There has been a situation in our lives that has been negatively affecting me - reducing me to tears,
weak prayers,
fear,
anxiety....
you know the drill.

BUT NO MORE!

Yesterday as I reached out to friends for prayer, one of them called me.  Basically, she told me I needed to stand strong in my faith so that those involved would be strong as well.  Mind you, she said this with great tenderness and love.

I put on some praise and worship music and WOW!  The Holy Spirit fell on me and my home in a powerful way!  Prayers for the situation rushed out of my mouth in a loud, strong faith-filled voice!

I prayed with authority, tears and victory!

Yesterday, I began a new, deeper journey with God!  I will no longer be a wimp for God!  He is raising me up to be a prayer warrior for my family.  I will fight for them on every side.
A WIMP FOR GOD NO MORE!

May I encourage you today to pray boldly for your family and loved ones?  You might just be surprised!

To Be Continued

Patrick's Strength
I've started yet another crochet project - It's an afghan for a young teenager that has been recently diagnosed with cancer. He is an only child and has a mass on his knee, rib and (I believe) his hip.

So, I'm making him an afghan in his colors: red, blue and black.  It's called "Patrick's Strength".
As God reminds you,
would you please pray for him?

My goal is to crochet 9 - 10 rows a day to have it finished in 10 days.  We'll see!

Here is our humble beginning!
I'm using I Love This Yarn! in
Fire Red (270), Royal (80) and Black (30).
I'm using a ripple pattern with a 5-3 repeat.
Vicky (you may have noticed her comments on some of my posts) mentioned a 7-3 repeat.
After a bit of research,
 l learned that
there are many variations to ripples.

I went to my go to book,
Encyclopedia of 300 Crochet Patterns, Stitches and Designs by Doris M. Smith.
It's an oldie, but goodie!
