Wednesday's Word: Song of Songs 3:2a. Wednesday's Wrap Up Or Not. I Like Thursdays.

Wednesday's Word: Song of Songs 3:2a
Continued study of some of the verses shared in Lynn Austin's Until We Reach Home.
In this book, Sofia and Ludwig speak different languages. All they have is their Bibles and basic drawing skills to communicate. He/she would find a passage that explains their thoughts and share that passage with the other. As their time to separate nears, Ludwig shows Sofia this verse to reassure her that he will find her.
This made me think: What if all we had to communicate with our loved one were verses from the Bible? In fact, what would happen if all we had to communicate period was the Bible? As for myself, I would be in the Word much more than I am now! It would be my lifeline to communication!
But then again, isn’t that way it’s supposed to be? Are we not supposed to have His Word on our hearts all the time? I was reminded of this this weekend:
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your strength.
These commandments that I give you today
are to be on your hearts.
Impress them on your children.
Talk about them when you sit at home and
when you walk along the road,
when you lie down and
when you get up.
Tie them as symbols on your hands and
bind them on your foreheads.
Write them on the door frames of your houses and
on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Lord, help me to live this way!

Wednesday's Wrap Up Or Not
I did finish Month 9 of the Stitcher's Garden, but am going to make it again.  The petals on the larger flower seem off to me.  This block won't go to waste though!  It'll either become a pillow or a tote bag!  :)
While I was prepping this block's appliqued pieces and the rest of its parts, I went ahead a prepped a few more blocks.  All the bits and bobs store nicely in one of the project bags my daughter made me!
For me, putting them together will be easier than prepping them!

I Like
It's Thursday which means it's time to link up to Lee Anna's I Like party in which we share whatever we liked this week.
Isn't this so true?

I'm really enjoying embroidering on tea towels.  This particular one has a humorous story behind it.  Check it out if you have some time!
My husband sends Scriptures out every morning.  More and more, I'm finding this Scripture to be true.  I also love the lettering.
Take out from on of our favorite restaurants:  Teriyaki Chicken Bowl.  Their serving for one makes two meals for me!  Yum!
My son gave me this tropical plant - which I was sure I would kill.  Ha!  It's doing pretty good - and I love the view from my bedroom doors!
Last, but not least, the one "not-guilty" pleasure I have been hoarding, this beautiful yarn Mandala Ombre yarn called "Tranquil" from Lion Brand Yarns.  No....I won't tell you how many skeins I've squirreled away!  :)

Looking through my week for things I liked helps to brighten my day - and hopefully your's as well!  Maybe you'll have time to visit the I Like party as well as these other wonderfully fun get-togethers!

  1. Clever daughter to make such a pretty and useful bag. Pretty Stitcher's Garden block and I like that ombre wool-Lion Brand is good yarn. I wonder what you'll make with it??? That is one gorgeous and healthy looking tropical plant.

  4. I’ve seen a lot of pretty ombré or variegated yarn recently. I admit I have way too much yarn. I’ve stashed yarn for years but don’t use it enough. Sigh. I think you big flower needs another petal. Generally designers do things in odd numbers. Poof course that would mess up the fabric choice. I agree with Calvin!

  5. I agree that it brightens our day when we take time to write about the good things. Focusing on happy things is a great way to re-evaluate ourselves.

  6. I think your appliqued block is really pretty - even if it doesn't fit your quilt, it will work nicely as a pillow or tote bag! Love Calvin and Hobbes, and that one is definitely true. Yummy lunch, and so great that it is enough for two meals!

  7. What book is that from? So sweet that your daughter made project bags for you! I love that. That plant and view is a beauty. I wonder what you're going to make out of Tranquil.

  8. I just chanced upon your blog via Not Afraid Of color on the Friday Smiles meme.
What a good way to communicate (via Bible verses) when you don't know each other's language. I live in Spain and for the first years, before I learnt enough Spanish, I used a Bible in English and Spanish side by side. I still have it and use it often, especially in meetings.
I love Tracey Chevalier. I have read a lot of her books, but not that one. I read The Girl with the Pearl Earring, The Lady and the Unicorn, and Falling Angels. Each one of them very good.
The colourful yarn is awesome. I love it. What are you going to make with that?
The project bag is very handy to have. You have a talented daughter.
    Have a lovely weekend,

  9. I just realized I got my blogs mixed up and the bit about Tracy Chevalier is probably totally inappropriate. But hey, they are good books.
By the way, I am also a breast cancer survivor.
