Philippians 2:20. Love My LQS! To Do Tuesday.

Philippians 2:20.
Scripture
Observation
This verse is best in context.  Paul is talking about sending Timothy to the Philippians to deliver the letter, right? After all, I don't think a postal service was available back then.   Perhaps also to check on his beloved Philippians and report back good news of their situation?  Paul also trusts Timothy:

"I have no one else like him,
who will show genuine concern
for your welfare."

Paul is really counting on Timothy to
1) deliver the letter,
2) loving guide guide them Philippians towards unity and cooperation with each other as evidenced by previous Scripture.

Application
Remember, I am no Bible scholar, these are simply my assumptions as I take the entire letter into account.  And of course use The Layman's Bible Commentary as well as a occasional commentary online.

But, I can relate to Paul.
Whenever there are issues with my children or even friends/family, I turn to my own "Timothy": my husband.  He is someone "like no one else who will show genuine concern for their welfare."

I am so grateful that God has provided this man of God who is filled with wisdom, discernment, love and gentleness for me to lean on!  Sure there are times when he drives me absolutely nuts!  But, I love him and I know he loves me.

He is my gift from God.
I'm grateful for him.

Prayer
Father God, I can hear Paul's broken heart in Philippians, his concern for his people.  I wonder, is that how You feel when we bicker and argue?  when we look out for our own interests, rather than the interests of others?

Your Word is Your letter to us - showing us Your heart.  Your Holy Spirit is Your - and our - "Timothy", guiding us through this temporary life until we are forever with You.

Thank You, my LORD, for Your Word, the Holy Spirit and my husband.  I'm so very grateful for all of these blessings!

Love My LQS!
One day I was blue.
An elderly loved one is really starting to show their age.  This is hard.  I'm sure you can relate.
I went to my LQS to cheer myself up by petting their beautiful fabric.
When the owner saw me, she knew something was wrong.

After I shared, she gave me this!
I smiled and knew
exactly who I'm making it for!

I've been trying to "be good"
and wait until I finish my
Around the House Embroidery.
But I can't.
I won't.
I know you understand.
Yup.
Gonna start cutting fabric today.
I see you smiling.

To Do Tuesday.
Last week's goals:
1) Finish my BOMs
- the $7.50 Done!
- Drunkard's Path Done!

2) 30 more individual hexies added to the Hexagon Afghan. 3/4 done!

This week's goals:
1) Covered in Love blocks - at least 3-4
2) Keep up with my Quilty 365
3) Add two hexagons to my Hexagon Afghan
4) Turn my Simple Scrappy Sampler into a at least a 50% flimsy.  My goal is to have it into a real flimsy, backing finished and turned into the quilter by the end of the month!

Philippians 2:19. Hexagon Afghan Progress!

Philippians 2:19
Scripture

Observation
As Paul begins to discuss his future, he talks about sending Timothy to them. Obviously he expected Timothy to return as he staed that he expected to be cheered when he received news about them.

Application
Hearing news about those we love is so special!  I can feel Paul's eagerness for news about his beloved Philippians!

I used to send cards or little notes to my loved ones all the time.  Now, for some reason, the osteoarthritis hurts when I hold a pen and write more so then when sewing/crocheting.

This held me back from sending notes.

Sometimes, I have to remember to focus on God and not the problem.

So, I've just started sending typed notes and inserting them into my cards.

But, greater is He within me
than He that is in the world!  (1 John 4:4)

Prayer
LORD, thank You for showing me a way to keep encouraging others via notes.  I can sense Paul's desparation? eagerness? for news of the Philippians.  How grateful I am that, today, we have so many different forms of communication!  Thank you for showing me how I can still write notes!  There are others with worse arthritits than I and they manage to live full lives.  This is by Your grace!  Thank you, Jehovah Jireh, for providing a way for us all to communicate and encourage one another - in spite of obstacles!  Again, my LORD, You are amazing!

Hexagon Afghan
There are a couple of knitting and crochet linky parties on Tuesdays, so I'm thinking that's when I'll share my progress on my Hexagon Afghan inspired by Camellia Rose's pattern!

Here's my progress this week!

Do you see the fence in the background?  That's the one it was hanging on last week in this picture:

As you can see, it's gotten so much bigger!  I'm really making more progress by crocheting these hexagon flowers and then attaching them to the afghan.  Honestly, I don't know if it really makes a difference, but it does to me!  :)

Have a great day!

Philippians 2:17-18. Ooops!

Philippians 2:18

Scripture

Observation
To be poured out like a drink offering means to be martyred.  Paul is saying that if he is martyred for the sacrifices and services of the Philippians, he will be glad and rejoice.  Did you catch that?  He would be glad
and rejoice of he were martyred.

Furthermore, he states that they should be glad as well!

Application
I love the LORD with all my heart - I do. At first I thought that I wouldn't be sure that I would be glad and rejoice if I were martyred - much less expect my family and friends to feel the same.

But, I do remember that in the low points of my life, I was happy to use those times to minister to others.  So, perhaps this idea isn't so far fetched....after all doesn't  God use all things for the good?

Prayer
LORD, thank you for this study!  My husband says that he has seen so much growth in me since I started it!  You know, there are times when I think Paul was so radical and I could never have the courage he did.  Then, You mercifully bring situations to mind when You provided me with courage and grace under fire.  Perhaps that's a reason You don't want us to compare ourselves to others.  When we do, we can feel so inadequate.  However, we forget that to add You into the equation.  You are our courage and grace under fire.  I deeply thank you for that!
Amen!

OOPS!
Don't you love when an mistake turns into a blessing?  I was working on my RSC 2017 blocks.  A good friend saw them and really liked them.  What do you think?

Later that evening, I cut two of them too small!  Instead of going into the trash they are now a pillow for her!

And you have a preview of March's RSC 2017 blocks!

Lesson Learned. Slow Stitching Sunday.

Lesson Learned.
I love reading your positive comments about how this Bible study!  It is changing my life - spiritually, emotionally and professionally.

Sometimes a situation will require me to advocate for those for whom I'm responsible.   At the time, I usually have no doubt, but, when I get home, it hits.

I turned to my Father for help by reading Philippians.  This verse was His response to me:

It was like God shone a spotlight on verse 4:
not looking to your own interests,
but looking to the interests of others.
Philippians 2:4
He reassured me that this was indeed what I was doing.  And He is right. The peace that passes all understanding
came in.  Whatever happens, it will be o.k

Here's this post  that I wrote on Philippians 2:4.

Slow Stitching Sunday

Today was anything but "slow".  I did manage to get a bit of slow stitching between church, playing with my 2 1/2 year old and 8 month grandsons and a shopping trip with my daughter!  Here it is!
This is my Quilty 365.  You see the black circles?  Those represent the days my hubby was sick.  The brown was when he was getting better.  The butterflies was when he was even better!

This block is my weekly favorite - it was on a Wednesday - my day to play with my two oldest grandbabies.  The playfulness of this fabric reminds me of them and the fun we have!

Drunkard's Path Block. You Are An Overcomer

Drunkard's Path Block
This week has been filled with activity.  I was looking forward to Monday because I had a whole day to sew....then I got sick. But, I had a whole day to recover!

God is good, all the time,
all the time God is good!

I did manage to cut out this block for my $7.50 BOM!  It's time consuming because I'm fussy cutting the skulls.

You Are An Overcomer
Hi there!
Today was an interesting day.
A lot happened.
As I was catching up on emails and comments, I found an email from a friend of mine, Amy from Amy's Scrapspot.

She suggested I listen to this song.
She said she thought I would be glad if I did.
She was right.
I cried.
I realized how far God has brought me.
I smiled with joy and love for my Father.

If you know someone facing cancer,
you might want to send them this song.
You might be glad you did.  :)
