Saturday's Song. Slow Stitching. Oh My! What A Stash Build Up! Fiber Stash Report

Saturday's Song
I love "Peace Be Still" sung by Lauren Daigle!  I hope it blesses you as well!  You can find the lyrics here.

Slow Stitching
A mix of of my hands giving out and life happening resulted in the felt Advent Calendar being relegated to a "holding pattern".

At last count, I had finished 11/25!  I'm now up to 18/25!

My granddaughter so enjoyed playing with these on my design board!

She understood that my hands needed a break.

They will be my Slow Stitching and Portable Sewing project for a season!

Oh My!
What A Stash Build Up!
Yup, I did local Bernina quilt shop had their annual end of year sale and I dived in...with a plan.  Yes, those of you who know me, know I am a list lover.

After making my Fabric Stash Book, my daughter gave me the suggestion of looking at which WIPs needed backings.  So, backing fabric was on my list.
These two babies are
100% quilters' cotton!

Gotta love me some minky!
I love this white minky -
went back and bought more!
This yellow minky was too precious to pass up -
sigh....I love yellow!
You can see a better peek
of the white minky!

I just fell in love with Hoffman's Natsu line after making my Cowboys quilt!
 So, I bought some....
 and then some more...

This fabric will be a wonderful backing for a little boy's quilt!

And then...
I went back on Day 2 of the sale...
and Day 5 of the sale...
I forgot to take pictures of all my lovely new stash!

It's ok....the new fabrics will be popping up here and there....

Stash Report
After my shopping spree, I ended up in the red for 2017 on all accounts.  But, I had so much fun!

I started this report in June 2017 and used 70 yards of fabric!  Mind blowing!

I wonder if I could use 100 yards of fabric in 2018?

  1. Beautiful song! Have a blessed Sunday!

    1. Thank you, Joanne! It was a blessed Sunday as I'm finally kicking my sunus infection! Praise God! I hope your day was blessed as well!

  2. Your advent ornaments are beautiful. I use counted cross stitch for mine and am making 5 new sets this year. Three to give to my grandchildren when they start their own homes, a new one for me since I gave my original one to my daughter several years ago when her's got left behind in a move, and one for my sister-in-love who just started doing advent this year. I'll work on them all year.

    1. Wow! That is quite a task ahead of you! I would love to see them! You know, I like your idea of a set for each grandchild for their own homes....thank you for sharing!

  3. The Advent ornaments are wonderful! Take the time to heal those hands.

    1. Thank you, Suzanne! I have rested my hands since mid-December. For the time being, those will be on hold for a bit longer. It sounds like you may have the same issue? Thank you for stopping by!

  4. Ha ha. I too am a sucker for a great sale. I always go with a plan though and get things I am in need of such as backs.

Your hand work ornaments are lovely. I feel it is always imperative to keep hand work around for times when you can't be at the machine.

    1. Right? I never used to go in with a plan - hence my 200+ pieces of fabric ranging from 1-8 yards! But, now I have a "mini shop" in my own house! Like many others, I've declared a Fabric Fast - buying only what I need to finish a project.

I agree with you! I have a crochet basket and embroidery basket in the living room. My hand ornaments are always in a little kit in my purse.

Isn't crafting the best? Thank you for your kind comments!

  5. Minky! I am a little bit gun shy when it comes to that stuff! I think it probably sews up great if you have a longarm, but not so much on a DSM. Congrats on the all the new stash additions! I know you didn't meat your goal of using more than you bought but maybe this will be the year! ;)

    1. Hi Janice! Yes, I've always been gun shy about minky, too! Luckily, Stephanie, my long-arm quilter was working during the sale. She was grinning like a Cheshire cat as she pulled the bolts of backings (fat back and minky) that she "thought" I should buy! She frowned very pensively if I pulled a backing that had given her fits. :)

My daughter, who also works there, told me that even though all those wonderful backings are quilt shop quality, some were better than others. Needless to say, Steph got to pick the ones she loves working with. Luckily, they are in colors I love, too! Great minds and all..... Take care!

  6. I love your project! I have always wanted to make some type of Advent project...maybe I'll try it this year.

    1. Thank you! You know, I've really enjoyed the process immensely! So much so, that I'm thinking I need some type of Advent project for myself as would be nice to have a quiet ritual during what can be a hectic time of year to focus simply on Jesus.... Thank you for stopping by!

  7. That red fabric would have come home with me too. Now we are in a new year and you can start fresh. You'll use all those backings quicker than you think.

    1. Yes! I so agree with you! Those backings will fly off the shelf! My mind gently flips through the possibilities of the new projects to come as well as completing my old friendly WIPs They gently speak to me letting me know that they'll be there when I'm ready.

      Take good care!

  8. Beautiful song and beautiful fabric. The name of the fabric, "Natsu" is summer in Japanese, and thos beautiful fabric reminded me of the good years my family lived there. God bless you? :-)

    1. Wow, I did not know that.....What beautiful memories you must have! I was blessed to live on Okinawa! What a wonderful God Wink!
