Philippians 4:12 - 13. Covered In Love Blocks. Book Date.

Philippians 4:12

Verse 11 stated that Paul learned to be content whatever his circumstances.  He goes onto to say in this verse that he
- knows what it is to be in need and to have plenty;
- he learned the secret of being content in any and every situation
- whether he is fed/hungry or living in plenty/in want.

Regardless of his circumstances, he has learned the secret of being content.

Who of us can say that regardless of our circumstances, we have learned the secret of being content.  What is that secret?
My heart cries out to know it.
What is that secret?!!
Here it is:

I. Can. Do. All. Things. Through.  Him. Who. Gives. Me. Strength.

Even find contentment in the midst of great trials.
We can do this - moment by moment - one day at a time.
Be gentle with ourselves.

As I go through my trial, I have a prayer I'll be praying.  A friend taught it to me.

Perhaps there is some a problem that is
- completely out of your control,
- or perhaps you need to walk away so that God's will will be done.
Your heart is broken.
You have no power in the situation.
It's time to let go and let God.
And it's so excruciatingly difficult and painful.

My dear reader, God can be trusted, with our
loved ones -

Abba, I praise You for Your leading, for Your strength, for You.  As I walk through the valley, I know others are walking that way as well.  Bless us with courage, strength and peace my LORD.  Let us lean on Your everlasting arms and recieve Your comfort and joy - for it is Your joy that is our strength.  Let us learn to be content in all circumstances.  Let us learn and see that we can do all things through You who strengthens us!

Covered In Love Blocks
Tonight I finished these 12 blocks for Covered in Love

I still have some strings left, so next Monday, I'll be making some more!  I wrote about this wonderful charity and my reasons for participating here.

Perhaps you have time to make a few string blocks?

I'm still enjoying Nights of Rain and Stars by Mauve Binchy!  I just love the characters and can hardly wait to see where their lives will end up!

Our church is reading The Story The Bible As One Continuing Story of God.  Also, very enjoyable.  I really like the comments interspersed throughout the pages.

  1. Phil 4:13 was my dear SIL’s life verse. He lived it well and taught us so much in his short 46 years. Thanks for the reminder to be is much needed right now. Your blocks are full of light and cheer!!

    1. Please accept my deepest condolences for your great loss! In my own experience, I can only say that I am able to find contentment in moments...after I have dealt with my deep pain...It's hard - so hard...but worth the battle...Prayers to you and your family!

I love working with bright colors! They bring a smile to my face!

Thank you for your kind comments!

  2. I've often had Maeve Binchy books on my possible reading list, but I don't think I've ever read one of hers. Would like to try one sometime. We read The Story at our church a couple of years ago - so good! Here's what I'm reading this week:

    1. Hello! I checked out your list and was so thrilled to see Angela Hunt's books there! I went right to Coas, our huge used books store and picked up two of her books! Thanks for the reminder of one of my favorite authors! Just finished Maeve Binchy's Nights of Rain and Stars...sigh! Great read! We just finished the first chapter of The Story - exciting time for our church! Thank you for stopping by!

  3. Such an appropriately timed post for me to read. Yes, thank you for sharing this! It is so hard to let go, and turn it over... Finding contentment without needing to control the situation from all possible angles. Not needing to have the last word. All things I am learning bring peace.

I've participated in Kat's Covered In Love in the past, and she does such wonderful things with the quilts. I know someone will be thrilled to have such a vibrant, string quilt given to them. Beautifully done!

    1. Thank you so much for your encouraging words....I am learning to let go...initially it has been an agonizingly slow process. I am seeing how God can move it I only get out of the way! Yes, peace....

I'm so glad you like the blocks - colorful is so much fun for me! Take good care!

  4. Your string blocks are beautiful!

    1. Thank you, Beth! I'm hoping to make more next Monday! :) Take good care!

  5. Years ago, we took a Crown Ministries course on getting out of debt. Throughout the course we had to memorize scripture and start each class with a recitation of the verse. Those two verses were in the course and are the two verses that most often come to mind when I'm in trying situations, espcially Phillipians 4:13.

I love your cheery blocks for the Covered in Love project. I hadn't heard of Covered in Love before, so I followed your links. A few of us in a book club make quilts for the local nursing home patients. If we get caught up, I'd like to send some to CIL too. Thank you.

    1. How neat that about the verses! Congratulations on working on your debt! We are as well!

Thank you for following the links re: Covered in Love! That would be great if you all made her some blocks!
      Take good care!

  6. I'm impressed with how straight the strips in your blocks are, Mia. And I like the pattern they create across several blocks.

    1. Thank you Nancy! You know, this time around I took the time to pin them in the middle and at the end! I was surprised how quickly they went up! Take good care!

  7. Thank you for your participation this week at the Show and Tell Monday !! Bambi
