Saturday's Song. Slow Stitching Sunday. A Few Finishes. Sunday Stats.

Saturday's Song.
Events late in 2017 led me to practice surrendering my will to God's with trust and hope in 2018.  It's been a journey of growing faith, personal victory, stronger faith, joy, peace, surrender, steadfast faith, perseverance, building of character, strength - so many blessings from one mere trial!  Additionally, unbeknowest to me, God worked through 2018 to strenghthen me for 2019 as my dad, who has been both mother and father to me, has sudden, new health issues.  
Regardless of the challenges that 2019 may bring, let us choose to go forth with the LORD's joy, confidence, faith, trust and hope into 2019.  
God's Word stands true and steadfast!

Slow Stitching Sunday
For the foreseeable feature, I'm planning on working on my Grandmother's Flower Garden.  It's about halfway put together.  Maybe this will be the year it graduates from pieces to a flimsy!

Saturday's Song. Slow Stitching. Stash Report,

Saturday's Song:  Dream Small
The title sounds unusual, but it's so true!  Those "little" things we do every day, are huge!

Above all else, LORD, help us remember our lives, our work, our calling is in Your hands.  Amen.
Slow Stitching
 Today was an amazing birthday party for my husband.  So, tonight I'll be resting with some crocheting on my  Spring Granny Square Afghan

and Prayer Shawl #10.  
                                   

This yarn is a dream to work with and I love the colors!  I may add an edging to add some beads....

Saturday's Song: Surrounded (Fight My Battles). Slow Stitching. Stash Report.

Saturday Song: Surrounded
This week I was surrounded and then I heard this song, "Surrounded" sung by Michael W. Smith.  I was immediately encouraged and reminded who my Savior is!   
When we are surrounded, let us remember we are surrounded by God Himself!  


 Slow Stitching Sunday
Today I slowed down with crocheting.  I made progress on my Spring Granny Afghan:

I also finished dishcloths 16-18/52 for the #yarnhoarderdishclothchallenge!

 I'm still working on building up the habit of sewing every day.  I'm curious, because I do machine sew, hand stitch and/or crochet every day.  Does that count?  Either way, I machined sewed 4/7 days this week - the same as last week!  And most of those days were at least an hour long or more!  Yea!

Saturday's Song. Still Stitching #1. Sunday Slow Stitching. Stash Report.

This chorus from Blessings by Laura Story is so true: 

'Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops

What if Your healing comes through tears

What if a thousand sleepless nights 

are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

Push forward my dear reader, push forward.  

 Today begin our study on living with loved ones who have lifestyle challenges - alcoholism, addictions, etc.  I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL counselor or therapist.  I'm simply a Spirit filled woman who deals with this issue.  

The title "Still Stitching" is a play on words.  "Still" comes from Psalm 46:10:
I have absolutely no control over anybody or anything - except myself.  Oh!  That truth was so hard to learn!  But, Psalm 46:10 is of great help to me.  
You might say that "Stitching" is my way of Bible Journaling, my way of healing after being broken yet again.  I began the #1yearofstitches during this time.  When life got crazy, I picked up my stitching, sat quietly and prayed.  As a friend listened to me describe this time and a name for this study, She said, "Awww....Still Stitching."  There you have it!  
The focus of this study will be on helping ourselves, not our "qualifier" (person with the addiction).  Our toolbox will be foremost Scripture, music,  and the tools I've picked up in Al-Anon meetings.   

I will begin with where I am now, refer to where I've been and then onto where I hope to be.  

 My prayer and hope is that many are blessed via this study that has been and continues to born of tears and victories.  

 So, I leave you today with a beautifully encouraging song and a word:  
Be still.
Know He is God.
Still stitch.

 Sunday Slow Stitching
I finally finished my Felt Advent Calendar!  At first I thought I mis-numbered a couple of decorations my pink an, but all is well.  Whew!

 Today I'll be Still Stitching as well as crocheting some squares together on my Spring Granny Afghan by Maria's Blue Crayon.  Here's my humble progress so far....

I got this quilt back from my LAQ and 
picked up some binding for it.  Of course, 
this fabric is already in my stash and 
of course 
I bought too much.  
I will not pass up 
a yellow batik 
that is 50% off! :)

 I visited my local quilt shop and picked up two polka dot 
Grunge charm packs 

as well as a couple of yards of white Grunge 
to compliment them. 

Not sure what quilt pattern 
I'll chose, 
but I'm eager to get started!

Stash Report. Sunday Slow Stitching. One Year of Stitches. Saturday Song.

Stash Report
This week was a crafting bust due to pain...but I'm learning to stop and take care of myself.  Funny - pain seems to be my companion more after chemotherapy....I wonder if I will ever have a week - heck - even a day without pain?  I wonder if other survivors who had fibromyalgia pre-chemotherapy also experience increased pain?  

 I finished an Abbey Bag which used a bit of yardage.  You'll be seeing it this week.  I also finished Prayer Shawl #7!  Yea! My yarn numbers are starting to go in the right direction!

Sunday Slow Stitching
My hopes for Sunday are to finally complete the Felt Advent Calendar.  All that's needed is the stitch the numbers on and sew the fronts to the backs!  Yea!  
If that gets done, I'll also be pulling stitches from the #1 Year of Stitches (see below).  

 Then, if there's time, I'd love to bind this CIL square turned potholder/hot pad.  I squared it too small, so now it has a new life!

 One Year of Stitches.
I've been completely unmotivated to stitch on this project and today I realized why:  the red words in the stem stitch.  simply look messy to me.  I prefer the clarity of the back stitch.  So, I'll be redoing them.  
Can you see me smiling?  I love when I can figure out what's bothering me about a project!
Saturday's Song
As you know, this week we will probably be wrapping up our almost two year study of the book of Philippians.  My first post on Philippians was on July 20, 2016!  Wow!  

 Lately I've been seeking God for a new direction for this blog.  He is faithful and has clearly led me to begin a study for those of us who have loved ones in our lives who are struggling with alcoholism, addiction and other life issues. It ties in with my Scripture for 2018:  
 My #1 Year of Stitches also began with this verse.  A dear friend and I were talking and I told her how my #1 Year of Stitches calms me as I focus on God's Word.  As the storm swirls about me, I'm learning to sit still and stitch, reminding myself that all I can do is be still and know He is God.  She came up with the title for this new series:

Still Stitching

For now, let's remember 
that He is the God 
of the hills and valleys, 
dear reader.
