Hello! Saturday's Song. Slow Stitching. Stash Report.

Hello!

Hello There! I took an unexpected break that started with Dad being hospitalized, me getting sick, prepping for a wedding and a wonderful trip that extended from San Clemente to Carmel by the Sea, CA! The prep for the trip was crazy as we all lost at least a week when Dad was sick.

But, the wedding - which took place at Dana Point - was beautiful! My sister and her husband opted for a "family honeymoon" in Carmel by the Sea. It was fabulous!

I should be back to regular posting,

though due to life's changes,

I'll probably be posting less often.

Onto our regularly scheduled programming!

Saturday's Song.
I know I usually post an inspirational song, but this was the song my baby sister chose for her Father-Daughter dance - one of Daddy's favorites! We all cried with joy - especially emotional and grateful that he recovered from his hospital stay.

As a little girl,

I would stand on his feet

as we "danced" to this song,

among many others

from this precious time in his life.

Life is so good!

Slow Stitching.
Some slow stitching was accomplished on this trip. I managed to finish hand quilting my "Around the House" embroidered mini quilt by Mollie at Wild Olive!

I also managed to put in some work on a new project a Nativity Themed Felt Advent Calendar! I purchased the pattern from Nancy at Do Small Things With Love a long time ago and have finally begun making it!

Actually, I've purchased many of her patterns and am very pleased with her professionalism, creativity and kindness!

Here's my progress thus far. For now, the little pieces are glued on. I used a felting tool (I'll be sharing more later on that) to more securely attach them while I use invisible thread to sew secure the tiny pieces. I want them to be firmly attached so my grandbabies can play with them.

Stash Report.
I bought some beautiful yarn near Cannery Row in California and then some more at Michael's when I came home! I'm definitely in the red!

These skeins of Tandem yarn by Tahki Yarns are going to be two light summer scarves for my daughter and I. The blue is her perfect shade and matches her eyes perfectly!

Once I got home and visited Micheal's, how could I resist these babies?

These Caron Cakes

are precious!

Philippians 3:12 Part 1/2 Pretzel Quilt Progress! Happy Mail!

Scripture

Observation
Previous to this verse, Paul had listed several magnanimous goals which are as follows: 1) to gain Christ,

2) be found in Him,
3) to know Him,
4) to know the power of His Resurrection, 5) to participate in his suffering, 6) to become like Him in His death and 7) to attain resurrection from the dead. Further, he wanted to attain these goals based not on his flesh and what HE could accomplish, but through faith. This list can seem overwhelming.
Until verse 12: He humbly and clearly states that he has not achieved these goals - yet. Then he proceeds to teach us his method for achieving them:

"...I press on

to take hold

of that for which Christ Jesus

took hold of me."

Philippians 3:12b

Sounds good.....but what does it mean? I've read this Scripture so many times, but what does it really mean?

"...I press on..."- Ok. Paul continues to work towards his goal - he's tenacious.

"...to take hold..."- He wants to grab something. What is it?

"...of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me." - What did Christ Jesus take hold of? He called Paul to love, serve and know Him!

(As you may have noticed I use the S.O.A.P. Bible Study Method - Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer. We'll get to the Application and Prayer in my next post.)

Pretzel Quilt Progress!
This quilt isn't a fully scrappy quilt, but I just had to share it with you! I think it would be so pretty with scrappy 2.5" strips, don't you?

Remember how I mentioned that Steph, my long arm quilter, said to be careful as I laid out this quilt? To stay focused? Well, Janice Holton from Color, Creating and Quilting started this quilt and emailed me about it! What a small world! She shared her progress, tips and pics - which I greatly appreciated. I looked for a posting about it on her blog - it was so helpful! Thank you, Janice!
