Wednesday's Word. BOMs Away!

Wednesday's Word

To fear God it to revere and be in awe of Him, to want to please Him because we trust Him.  See, He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him!  He hears us and saves us!  Would you consider taking the step of fearing and loving Him?   Here is a great study that I hope will bless you!

BOMs Away!
As I've prepared my 2019 Goals, I realized I'm in five BOMs - one of which is a personal goal.  
1.  The popular $7.50 Club hosted by my LQS!  Isn't it curious how different the same blocks look with different fabrics?

2.  Caroline's Teacup QAL @ From My Carolina Home.  Here's my blocks thus far.

3.  I grabbed a cup of courage and joined my LQS's Stitchers' Garden!  It's a skill building class that looks intimidating, but I'll surrounded by loving quilters as well as a great teacher, so I'm eager for our first class on January 16.  

4.  The Fall Into a Quilt Along hosted by Partners in Design got me playing with my precious batiks.  Though the QAL is over, I'll keep sewing!  You may recall that I'm two blocks in.  


5.  I have decided to make Jingle All The Way by Kimberbell!  For me, a BOM format should work.  

Eeesh!  How to handle all these?  Well, I've decided I will work on them on Mondays.  I'll have to kit them.  In other words, one Monday (hopefully I'll just need one day) will be fabric selection, cutting and placing the fabric and all other supplies in separate ziplock bags as kits.    The next Mondays will be dedicated to sewing.  Yes, I know, when we make plans, God laughs!  Are you laughing as well?  I know I'm smiling....

Jesus Asked It #5. Teacup Quilt Along Block 2. Book Date.

As soon as I read Jesus’ next question, I remembered my first years as a bilingual teacher.  It was so overwhelming!  So, to simplify my life, I decided to join my students and wear the uniform that they wore:  blue pants/skirt and a white blouse.  That way I could focus on what was truly important:  being the best teacher I could be. 

As I read the above verse, I wondered if Christ was really saying:  “Seriously, why do you worry about clothes?  There are lost souls to be saved, the sick to be healed!  Time is short!  Focus on what is important, people!”

So, what is really important in your own life to focus on?  What is God calling you to do?  Jana Alcorn pointed out Isaiah 38:2 in her book, Don't Throw In The Towel, Hope Again. 

Instead of focusing on Hezekiah turning towards the wall, she points out that he could have been turning AWAY from everything that was distracting him from God’s voice! 

Dear Reader, do we need to do this as well?  Do we need to cease worrying about the little things so that we can focus on what is vital? 

If God takes care of nature, surely He will take care of us, His beloved children! 

Go forth in joy and confidence!  

Do not problems, pain and worry distract you from listening to God’s voice and fulfilling His will for your life!  Amen?  :)

I enjoyed the setting and characters in Pastoral by André Alexis.  The setting was idyllic for Father Pennant's wanderings.  The human nature was shared quite honestly and realistically.  I look forward to reading the sequel, Fifteen Dogs.  This is my 2nd book finished for the 12 Annual Canadian Book Challenge hosted Melwyk at The Indextrious Reader!

Maeve Binchy again, presented an intriguing read.  Our young protagonist is faced with an exceedingly difficult dilemma in which she chooses as wisely as she can.  Eventually, the story comes to a somewhat abrupt end which provides her with some measure of peace and the ability to move forward.

From last time, we ended with this question:

If we lose our "saltiness" (purpose) or our light, how can we be made salty/filled with light again?  Unlike salt, we can be redeemed.  

My first thought as I wrote that question was this verse:

³³But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,

and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:33

Clearly, after reading this verse in context, Jesus is referring to food, shelter and clothing.  Seek first His kingdom and the rest will come.  

However, then, I have to ask myself, “How do we lose our light, our way, in Christ in the first place?”  
Sin. 

Plain and simple.

Therefore, how do we become restored to our Father and thus become “salty” again?

Repentance and receiving the forgiveness of God.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you^a free from the law of sin and death.  Romans 8:1

This brings me great relief, because how could I write this blog, testify as to the glory of God, and exhort those who are hurting to trust in Him if I am living under condemnation and unforgiveness?

To become salty again, to find my purpose again, I hope I remember to

1)       Seek first His kingdom and righteousness,

2)       ask God’s forgiveness for my sins,

3)       receive His forgiveness and then, the hardest part,

4)       remember that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 

A New QAL!
Carol at From My Carolina Home shared about a foundation paper pieced project she was experimenting with.  She asked her readers if we might be iteresting in a QAL....well....yes!  So, I joined up, ordered the book, Cups and Saucers, and am ready to rock and sew!

I wasn't sure about The Silent Wife by A.S.A. Harrison, but I'm really liking it!  It's part of a challenge I joined:  the 12th Annual Canadian Book Challenge hosted by Melwyk at The Indextrious Reader. 

My current ebook is Dreams of Falling by Karen White.  

I'm already enjoying the 2nd book, The Warrior: Caleb in Francine River's series, Sons of Encouragement.    

Finished

The Priest: Aaron by Francine Rivers was fabulous.  I gained so much insight into how much Aaron and Miriam's life was affected by Jochebed's placing Moses with Pharaoh's  daughter.  I also gained so much appreciation for the responsibilities leaders in our church face.
