"The Call" comes in.  We all know "the call"; the one that breaks our heart, sends on a tailspin.  What if we could remember all of God's promises in those first moments?  What if we had at the ready a tool to use to pray and fight the enemy.  
Kim Sorgious @ Not Consumed found an answer:  a Promise Box and an altar.  The altar is in the works, but I found an easy way not only to make the Promise Box, but also to maintain it as well.

2) Oreo Orca by Funkcy Friends is a finished project which was also my OMG @ Elm Street Quilts!  I missed the link up to post him, but that's ok!  I'll develop that habit!  He also counts for my 1 Xmas a Month!  He came out really cute and is ready to go swimming!  I'm linking up to share this finish!  ✔

 3) If I'm able, I would like to finish the green flowers for my Spring Granny Square Afghan! ✔

4) Finish the flimsy for Comfort Quilt 3.  X

5) Trim my four patches.  ✔

My granddaughter made this gorgeous bird house for me in her Art Class.

This Week's List

1) Backpack #2:  Finish 1/2 of section 3. 
2) Finish the flimsy for Comfort Quilt #3.  
3) Cut out the fabric for my next OMG as well as my 1 Xmas a Month - meet Patch the Pussy Cat!

4) Begin joining my Spring Granny Square Afghan using the join-go-as-you method.  Here's the instructional video by Maria at Maria's Blue Crayon Tube Channel. 

5) Ongoing projects on which I simply want to make progress on:
     a.  Sew together more four patches.  
     b.  Connect another yo-yo flower.  
     c.  Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt
     d.  Prayer shawl #9

Jesus Asked It #1. Progress on Got Your Back - Backpack #2. Book Date.

Questions Jesus Asked #1
On Sunday, July 22, 2018 Pastor Dale preached an amazing sermon:  Do You Want to Get Well?  It was based on John 5:1-15, the accounting of the man by the pool of healing waters.  During this powerful sermon, Pastor said something like this (paraphrased), "If you want to ask questions, why not start with the questions Jesus asked?"  

That set right with my Spirit.  
Therefore, I'm reading the four gospels:  Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in order focusing on the questions Jesus asked.  I'll be implementing the Color Coded Bible Study that I learned about here.  
This is a pretty intensive study that I break up throughout the week.  This morning's study looked like this:  

  I printed out the NIV version in column one and the Amplified version in column two.  As you can see in the Amplified version, "saltiness" can be construed as our purpose.  
I took a break here with one burning question:  If we lose our "saltiness" (purpose) or our light, how can we be made salty/filled with light again?

I'll continue the study with the next steps:  

-Read the chapter as if you are the author. Who are you? Where are you? To whom are you writing?  

- Then read the chapter as if you are the recipient.  What is the message they wanted to send you?

Progress on Got Your Back - Backpack #2
I finished Part 2 of Annie's Got Your Back 2.0!  The seam on the binding will disappear to night.  I've decided that hand binding will be prettier.  

I love this paisley fabric was from Hobby Lobby - a purchase from at least 3 years ago!  The pink was from my LQS!  

Soon, all these pieces will be a backpack!  :)

Audiobooks

Francine Rivers wrote a great series, Sons of Encouragement.  The description from Francine Rivers' webpage  states:  "In this five-book compilation of the Sons of Encouragement series, New York Times best-selling author Francine Rivers illuminates the lives of five Biblical men who stood behind the heroes of the faith and quietly changed eternity. Aaron, Caleb, Jonathan, Amos, and Silas each faithfully sought after God in the shadows of His chosen leaders. They answered God’s call to serve without recognition or fame. And they gave everything, knowing their reward might not come until the next life." I am currently listening to The Priest: Aaron.  

My current ebook is Dreams of Falling by Karen White.  

Finished

Peace in the Valley by Ruth Logan Herse 

was a sweet romance with a predictable ending.  However, I absolutely loved how Ms. Herse integrated Scripture in her characters' personality.  As they faced various situations, they recalled Scripture that helped them trust in God.  Oh, that we should all remember that lesson!

Keeping Faith by Jodi Picoult at first was hard to listen to.  Ms. Picoult addresses social issues and speaks for both sides of said issues.  This can make her books hard to read/listen to, but, as always, she wrote an engrossing read.

Remember when we first met our husbands?  Again, Crystal from Crystal Storms blessed me as she took me down Memory Lane in her post How to Cherish Your Unique Husband.  She reminded me how much I wanted to learn about him back then.  

Now, 39 years later, I still study him, wanting to know more about him.  It is amazing how much we have changed over the years - he still surprises me - and I still cherish him.  

Crystal shares beautifully thoughtful ways to increase our knowledge of our husbands.  Her last question:  What is one way you can affirm how God created him? This question was my confirmation that my daily habit of thanking him and making positive comments about his actions and character on a daily basis can never grow old.  We are after all the mirror in which our husbands see themselves.

Last Week's List

1) Quilt the fabric and cut out the pieces for the 2nd backpack. ✔ 

2) Cut out the pattern and create templates for the cute whale!  My hubby cut out the templates for me!  Sweetie Pie!  ✔

3) Work on my Spring Granny Square Afghan!  ✔

4) Join these corners to these Flying Geese for Comfort Quilt #3.  ✔

5) Make more four patches! ✔

 These are ready to be trimmed.

This Week's List

Luckily, my appointments are minimal this week (knock on wood), so I think I can get the following finished!

1) Backpack:  I would like to stitch all around my quilted pieces to seal the edges.  After that, I am going to prepare the rest of the pieces by fusing the various interfacings, making the bias binding, padded handle, straps and strap tabs. I also need to prepare the front flap of the backpack pocket.  It sounds like a lot, but I do not think it will take too long.  

2) This actual instructions for sewing the Oreo Orca are three pages with tons of pictures.  I am hoping to finish the following sections:  patches, tummy, tail, fin and sewing the top together.  Luckily, there is a "Sew with Me" webpage!  I am getting excited about this project!  

3) Continue making those pretty, green flowers for my Spring Granny Square Afghan! 

4) Finish the flimsy for Comfort Quilt #3.  

5) Make more four patches - of course!
