Weekly Word: Psalm 19:1-6. Plus My Reading, Stitching and Gratitude This Week!

Hello There,
Thank you for stopping by!  I hope your first week of 2022 was filled with hope and peace.  I learned so much from Psalm 19 this week, finished a couple of fabulous reads, made some progress on my goals as well as found some posts on Instagram that brought me joy.  I hope you enjoy your visit here today!

Here's is an index should you have a special interest you like to read first!
The Weekly Word - is a short devotional that sometimes becomes a Bible Study series.
My Reading Life - is filled with current, completed and upcoming reads as well as an occasional short review.
Stash Report and To Do Tuesday is where I'll share share stats regarding my fiber usage and acquisitions, goals met/lack thereof and photos of my projects.
Gratitude Journal - Sometimes I get lost in my own stinky thinking.  This digital journal reminds me to count my blessings!

The Weekly Word
Reading and writing down the Psalms are a part of my devotional life.  I'm certainly not a Bible scholar, but this simple act helps me to slow down and hear God's voice.  Psalm 19:1-6 stopped me in my tracks, especially verses 1-3.
As I studied, I read this in Layman's Bible Commentary:
"...the simple repetition of day following night and the soothing sense of rhythm and regularity it provides, reflecting the concept hat God is eternal, consistent, and can be relied on."  He lives. His Word will never fade away.  Praise Him in everything.  My 2022 mantra.

I asked myself, "What knowledge do the heavens and sky reveal - especially since they have not speech?"  After once again turning to Layman's Bible Commentary and the internet it was obvious!  They reveal weather forecasts, help us to find our bearings, warning signs and, most importantly, a sense of wonder at God's beautiful creation!  After reading that, I couldn't help but wonder:  Perhaps this is true with humans:  we can teach so much not by our words, but by our actions.  Something to ponder.
David was amazing and ahead of his time regarding his faith and view of God!  I learned that in that time in history, most pagan religions viewed the sun as a separate god.  However, David knew the one and true God had created everything on earth and in the heavens!
Bearing this truth in mind, whenever I see the sun in the Bible, I can't help but think of the homophone - Son.  This particularly touched me when I read in verse 6 that nothing is deprived of the sun's warmth.  The same holds true for the Son of God - no one need be deprived of His love and warmth!  Let us share His love for all of humanity!

My Reading Life

Finished
The Secret Keepers of the Old Depot Grocery was a fine book, yes, a fine book.  Amanda Cox took her time with the entire story ending with a lovely twist at the end.  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I started and finished The Broken Road series this week via audio this week.  Richard Paul Evans worked his magic yet as he wrote about the protagonist's brokenness, mistakes, gaining of wisdom, humility, forgiveness and redemption.  I loved one particular section in which the husband asked his wife every morning, "How can I make your day better?"  *Domestic violence alert in the first part of The Broken Road.  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I really liked the main characters and setting in Murder by the Book.  However, for my taste, there were too many "suspects" making for a confusing read.  ⭐⭐

Stash Report

My LQS has been closed for inventory, so that really helped my numbers!  This year I'm looking forward to emptying another fabric shelf, they're 27 inches wide and to using/donating patterns.
Yarn Numbers
I've picked up my crochet hook and finished up some dishcloths.  Some are gifts, some I'll keep as I'm running low myself!

I love love the new year and the chance for a clean slate!

To Do Tuesday
Last Week's List
1.  Sunday Slow Stitching:  How I love to slow down and slow stitch.  It's simply good for my soul.  I'll keep stitching up my hexies.  Done in a way!  I ran out of prepped hexies, so I prepped a bunch of them up!  These will be my Sunday Slow Stitching project.  My husband bought me those cool magnifying glasses that have rechargeable LED lights on them!  Now I can stitch, crochet and read wherever and whenever I want!
2. Crochet: It would be great if I finish up this hexagon afghan for my granddaughter's birthday! Done!    The afghan isn't finished, but I've made great progress!  I may meet my March deadline yet!
3. Machine Sewing: I'll not meet the December 31 deadline, but I'm on the last steps of finishing up Melva's Santa Fe Trail SAL. In Progress. I got stuck on choosing sashing and borders, so my daughter and I will pick some this coming weekend.
4.  Gift Sewing:  Order/pick (from my pattern library) the kiddos new softie pattern for Christmas 2022.     Done!  In keeping with the goal mentioned in my Stash Report, I decided to use a pattern I already have!
This Week's List
1.  Sunday Slow Stitching:  Get back in the habit of making a QAYG hexie a day.  Oh!  If you like slow stitching, check out the Anne-Marie's videos in my Gratitude Journal section!  You'll love them!
2. Crochet: Continue making progress on my granddaughter's afghan.
3.  Machine Sewing:  Being that I'm waiting until this weekend to pick borders for the sew along, I'll put together my flannel quilt top.
4.  Xmas Sewing:  Every Christmas I promise myself not to get stuck frantically sewing through the holiday season.  In 2022, I'm determined to enjoy the holiday season, thus these are my holiday sewing goals.
- my flannel quilt
 - mug rugs
- my grandchildren's next softies
- two Christmas quilts for my own home (Can you believe I haven't made me even one?!)  😲
- a Christmas table topper
I'll be posting my progress on another blog I joined.  It's called 1 Xmas Item a Month.  It's a blog where various contributors share their Christmas sewing throughout the year.  It's tempting to put them aside as different holidays come up, but I'm hoping I can resist!
My goal this week is to machine embroider the prepped mug rugs.

  1. The Christmas book has such a cute cover. It sounds like a good book too. I am sorry you didn't care for Murder by the Book.i recently added that one to my TBR pile. I hope you have a good week!

  2. You fly through the sewing projects. And I see here the quilt I started in 2000, unfinished. I'm hand quilting it and it's a big quilt. It feels daunting.

I'm planning to focus on reading the Gospels this year. I want to focus on Jesus' words and actions.

  4. I set my Santa Fe Trail flimsy aside but keep seeing finished quilts and makes me want to finish. I think the sashing and border are really going to make that quilt shine - looking forward to seeing what you and your daughter choose! I like that Brighter Day embroidery so much I went to her Etsy shop and bought it! I want to make it for my daughter, maybe it will give her something to give her some positive thoughts. Those LED magnifying glasses are cool!
I'm thanking you in advance for linking up to the next To Do Tuesday. :D

  11. My sister bought me a sweatshirt for Christmas that said "It's not hoarding if it's books." I love it!!! I really enjoyed Amanda Cox's book when I read it last year (seems funny to say because it wasn't that long ago!). Happy reading! https://cindysbookcorner.blogspot.com/2022/01/its-monday-what-are-you-reading-2-22.html

  14. It's hard to keep up with any "one every day" craft, like your hexies, but I think you've been doing well! I haven't read Murder by the Book - will have to put it on my list. Love the t-shirt designs!
