Psalm 4 a
For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David.
1Answer me when I call to you,
my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
2How long will you people turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods b c
3Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself;
the Lord hears when I call to him.
when you are on your beds,
search your hearts and be silent.
5Offer the sacrifices of the righteous
and trust in the Lord.
- answers us
- gives relief from distress
- He's merciful
- sets apart the godly for Himself (wow!)
- hears when we call
- He's trustworthy
- fills our heart with joy
- makes us dwell in safety (keeps us safe)
Psalm 4:8 ties in wonderfully with Psalm 3:5. When we are distressed, sleep often evades us; perhaps it would serve us well to memorize these two verses for those sleepless nights. We can sleep—and truly rest in Him—because God keeps us safe and sustains us.
Do some new year organziation in my sewing room - I don't dare show you the before pictures! Done! I've made serious progress and am looking forward to completing the final touches next week!
On a side note, last summer I picked up this Singer sewing machine. According to the seller, was made in Great Britian in the 1960's. She'll be going in for a much needed spa day as her last one was in 2023.
Bird has grown up disavowing his mother and her poems; he doesn’t know her work or what happened to her, and he knows he shouldn’t wonder. But when he receives a mysterious letter containing only a cryptic drawing, he is pulled into a quest to find her. His journey will take him back to the many folktales she poured into his head as a child, through the ranks of an underground network of librarians, into the lives of the children who have been taken, and finally to New York City, where a new act of defiance may be the beginning of much-needed change."

Your hexagons are lovely. That is interesting about the number 11 straw needles. My biggest issue with hand sewing is getting the needles threaded. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteA nice post for a Sunday morning. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI’m glad you are finding comfort in your faith and books.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a lovely week
Ha, love all the quilting memes. I have not finished organizing my sewing room since moving, but it is so close. I need to just make myself finish so I can start working on my projects again. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI'm primarily a middle grade book blogger, but in the summer I quilt a LOT. Glad to see there is someone else out there who splits her time this way. I like your small projects. I'll have to check out some of the quilting blogs! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThose hexies are sure pretty! The fussy cute centers make the blocks so interesting!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteI started reading Claire Keegan last year and now I am working my way through her backlist.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Thank you for your thoughts on grief and loss, as well as sharing your progress on the various projects. Slow and steady wins the race! :) Though it really isn't a race at all... it is about the journey getting there. Thanks for joining Sew & Tell.
ReplyDeleteI really loved Small Things Like These. Glad you did, too, Patricia.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your work with grief, including your thoughts about your recent readings.
Thanks for sharing so openly about your grief journey. For me, the challenge has always been the loss of future memories, the places I thought my mother would be but wasn't because she died at 47.
ReplyDeleteNo matter how often I cross-stitch, I always find an error. Sometimes I fix it. Sometimes I don't. Hope you have a blessed week.

I sure never thought I'd "grieve" the loss of a pet but here I am these days. It caught me off guard but like dealing w/any death, we can let it help us grow and if anything, it's a reminder (painful tho it be) that this life isn't permanent, nor is it our final goal. We can really get caught up in this world but so much better awaits!
ReplyDeleteThose memes are great! giggles
