Psalm 23:6, Fiber Fun, Literary Life, Finding Joy

Hello There,
Thank you for stopping in today. I'm so glad you're here. This week has been tough, but God has given me strength to study His Word, sew (which has been so helpful), read a bit and even find a bit of joy. I hope your week was nice and that you have a great week!
Take good care and, as Daddy says,
"Make memories; it's later than you think."

HERE'S A WORD

Faith...broken faith...faltering faith.  Here, I will share a Scripture about these topics.  No judgement, only love.

As I re-read this verse this morning, my mind went back to verse four, which I especially love in the KJV:
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
 I will fear no evil,
for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and They staff they comfort me.
Psalm 23:4
I've been re-reading the devotional I wrote about this valley.  Oh, dear one, as we experience the valley of the shadow of death, also known as the darkest valley, we are not alone.  Even if we feel alone, remember this:  Feelings are not fact.
The fact is that God is with us.  Despite our anger, confusion, hurt, despair, He silently walks with us as He patiently waits for us to turn to Him for comfort, strength and love.
Surely Your goodness and love
will follow me
all the days of my life...
He follows us, He walks with us.  He is there, right now, waiting for when we are ready to run back into His loving arms and dwell in His house forever.
As we finish this study on Psalm 23, I pray we are all encouraged during our darkest valley and remember, there is hope at the end of the journey.

I pray for you to be restored, healed and know this:
You are loved.  You are not alone.  You are being lovingly prayed for.

FIBER FUN

I broke down my "To Dos" into three categories:  Finish, Focus, Prep/make a kit, and Be Kind = Soft Deadlines.  FoF represents the Fields of Fancy BOM, which I'm doing with Liberty of London Tana Lawn fabrics.

Last Week's List

1.  Finish

Atlas Zipper Case!  Day Five - installing the zipper, then adding the bias binding and zipper tab
Before making the orange case, I had made two “prototypes".

I applied lessons learned to this third one and am pleased with the results.  I do want to make more of these as they serve so many purposes other than sewing kits.  I'm thinking it would could hold my Bible and supplies for study, journaling, coloring, small game holder and other traveling items, and stationary supplies.  The list is endless.  How would you use it?

2.  Focus
FoF BOM Applique one prepped hexie and bind another Acufactum hexie

Stitch up The Flower Pot by Louise Kraft DONE!

Jet Set Sewing Station step two
I also enjoy breaking up more detailed patterns such as this one  steps.  It feels more manageable.
I’m learning to read each sentence and match up what I’m doing with the illustrations on the pattern. Then, I double and triple check before actually sewing. After I’ve successfully finished that sentence, I highlight it and continue. Both Day 1 and 2 were easy following the above steps.  I keeping a list: "Notes to Self" that I'll be sharing on the last day of this project.
Day 1:  the vinyl pocket
Day 2: The divided pocket

3.   Prepare/make a kit

Continue cutting and labeling the pieces for Month 5 of the FoF NOT DONE

4. Be kind = Soft Deadlines - which are good for my mental health!

This Week’s List

We are planning to choose a frame for this project today.  It'll be nice to see it finished.

  • Jet Set Sewing Station step 3

LITERARY LIFE

CURRENT READS

FINISHED

***** A Dream Called Home by Reyna Grande was a continuation of her memoir, The Distance Between Us, which I reviewed last week.  She continues her story into adulthood until she finally achieves her dream:  A place to call "home."  She shares her family's complicated relationship resulting from the distance created by family separation due to immigrated to the US for a better life.  Some issues are resolved, while others have yet to be healed.  Grande also wrote about her academic successes, which gave me more appreciation for my own college experience so much more after learning about hers.  As her own home develops, I cheered her on and was amazed at her strength, fortitude and determination.  Highly recommend.

DNF

The Kitchen House is a book I believe I would recommend, however, at this point in my life, I had to DNF it.  I have it in mind for another time.

MAILBOX MONDAY is a gathering place for readers to share books that they
added to their shelves or eBook readers the previous week.
I haven't picked up any books this week, but I did find some freebies!↓↓

Our aunt taught me about ereaderiq.com which offers free/for purchase eBooks.  I set my filters to free and have picked up several eBooks.

FINDING JOY

LeeAnna's I Like on Thursdays at Not Afraid of Color helps me consistently find the joy in every life.  She also provides a prompt for us to use.  This week's prompt is:

I just saw recipes for Fudgesicles would you want a fudgesicles or orange creamsicle?  I am definitely a creamsicle person!  Absolutely hands down.

Though I've followed many recipes for overnight oats, this one is by far my favorite!    I added the blueberries to soak in the delicious flavors and added pecans and strawberries before enjoying.

This song touched me deeply this week.

  1. I am just in awe of the zipper cases you've been making! They look like they are turning out great. Thinking of you this week, and hope you can read and do things that bring you joy.

  3. My mom used to make fudgesickles (not sure about the spelling!) in Dixie cups when we were kids. I still have the recipe. It uses boxed pudding mix, and they are delicious.

I think you could use that case for so many things!

Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers, Patricia.

  4. I have not been sewing, but I have been cutting materials for a quilt here and there. We have so many plates spinning it is hard to be in any kind of routine right now. I have not had success with overnight oats, but my husband has. Glad you found one to love.
