February 8: Isaiah 41:10, Fun Fiber Projects, Literary Life and Finding Joy

Hello There,

Thank you all for visiting!  Back in January I mentioned about some issues with photos in Blogger.  I found an easier, new-to-me method to insert them from my phone.

I simply open the draft of my blog post on my phone and, following the normal procedure, insert the edited picture in the section I want.  To find the photo tool on my phone, I have to swipe left.  I am careful to ensure the blog post I'm working on is closed on my computer.  Likewise when I'm working on m computer:  I make sure the post is closed on my phone.  Thus far, it has eased the pain of working with photos for my blog.

Perhaps many of you may already know this tip, but I hope it helps some of my readers!

So, time to enjoy your favorite drink, relax and enjoy this post!  Looking forward to reading your thoughts in the comments!

HERE'S A WORD - Faith...broken faith...faltering faith.  Here I will share a Scripture about these topics.  No judgement, only love.
I heard this song and wept...wept as I again resign myself to the fact that we are out of treatment options for my precious Daddy...wept as I realize I am helpless to change the situation...wept as I don't know how to live life without him.

All my life my Daddy has been my comfort, my North Star, my compass.  His guidance and love have helped me navigate life.
Does it feel like your comfort is gone?  Do you feel lost without your North Star?  Your compass?

I will be dismayed...but, hopefully I will remember that God promises to strengthen me, to help me, to uphold me with his righteous right hand. He'll hold you as well.

FIBER FUN
Crochet:
Here are the first four granny squares for my #bookblanket 2025!  Tada!  What do you think?

Hand Embroidery:
The last of the baubles have been stitched up!  Now, to stitch up the caps, the hanger and frame the project!  The finish line is near!

English Paper Piecing:
This week I plan to have fun with some EPP hearts!  I saw a relaxed sew along called Connecting Hearts hosted by Miss Leela on The Maker's Stash.  I loved the idea and started making EPP hearts with the goal of making this a fun, long-term project.  This is my kit stored in the Lowe's containers I shared here

Here is what I've joined thus far.
Quilting:  Be Sew Creative's $15 Sampler quilt, The Montage by Karen Montgomery It’s finally a flimsy and the backing has been stitched. It’s now with my precious long arm quilter! This is all very exciting :-)

LITERARY LIFE
CURRENT READS
This has been a slow reading week.  I lost 800 Grapes and The Sweetness of Forgetting to Libby as they was due.  The good news is I've found a copy of 800 Grapes at my locally owned bookshop, Coas!

During a sleepless night I checked out my Kindle library.  There are a lot of good books there!  I plan to up my reading ebooks game - especially now that I have a Kindle Paperwhite.  It's so much easier on the eyes than my phone/tablet.

FINISHED
I do believe this is my first week ever that I have not finished a book!  Wow!  It has been super busy with finishing a secret sewing project as well as the Sampler, but I'm surprised not to have finished at least one book.  We've also been traveling (more on that next week) but still...alas, those weeks happen.

FINDING JOY - LeeAnna's I Like on Thursdays at Not Afraid of Color helps me consistently find the joy in every life.  She also provides a prompt for us to use.
This week's prompt is:  What is something you have always wanted to try, but haven’t yet?  I've always wanted to explore the Italian countryside.  It has called to me for years.  I've also wanted to take some type of reading/literature class at a local university.  At this juncture of my life, it would be as an audit vs. doing all the work - if that exists.

I do believe I love this Advent Embroidery Pattern by Beatrice @em_bea_roidery!

I picked up this oh so pretty 3D quilt pattern, Popped Color.  Click here for a better view.

I also pulled out my Bee Humble BOM!  Making progress on this one!

Love this mix from Trader Joes!

  1. I am so sorry to hear about your Dad, I can't even imagine! Hugs and prayers headed your way. I have been working on my book blanket as well, but I am making my granny squares smaller since I typically read 200ish books a year...I was afraid the blanket would get too big, especially as I haven't made one before, so have no idea of the "normal" size. I hope you have a great week!

  5. my dad died - suddenly - just before my 20th birthday and i felt lost without him ... i've since realized that all of those twenty years he had been teaching me what i needed to know ... your daddy has been doing the same - it won't make it hurt any less, but i hope that you find comfort in knowing that he won't ever be truly gone, because there is you and what you have learned from him...

  8. It's terribly sad to contemplate life without those we love so much. I feel so fortunate to have my dad---he turned 98 last month---but I know my time with him is growing short.

I'm reading Roots through a checkout from the library. So far I've been able to renew it twice. Not sure what I'm going to do when that doesn't happen.

  9. I'm saddened to hear about your precious dad. It is one of life's hardest things to know that there is no treatment to save those we love. I will pray that you and your dad, and your family will comfort each other during this impossible time and find strength and comfort in each other's love. May God wrap his arms around you all and give you comfort.

  10. Oh I am so sorry about your dad, I lost mine 9 years ago this month and it still brings tears to my eyes thinking about him. Trust me when I say he is still your guiding light, just in a different way. AND I love your Bee quilt block!
