February 2: Matthew 8:8, Fun Fiber Projects, Literary Life and Finding Joy

Hello There,

Thank you for stopping in!  I appreciate your time!  Last week was productive - I even pulled out a project that was in serious danger of becoming a UFO!  I pulled it out yesterday and we're back on track.  I'll be sharing later on that one.

I hope you all had a great week and the coming week is filled with stitching, reading, your favorite hobby and, prayers for everyone touched by the recent airplane tragedies.

Hugs to you all!

Patricia

HERE'S A WORD - Faith...broken faith...faltering faith.  Here I will share a Scripture about these topics.  No judgement, only love.

When I read this verse in The Alchemist, my heart filled with hope, then despair, then I asked God, "I've been praying for my loved for 30 years.  When will they be healed?  When will they find their way?  When, O Lord, when?"
Are you in the same situation?
Do you have seemingly unanswered prayers, at least to your eyes?  I do.
Is your faith faltering?  Mine is.
Are you still seeking?  I am.
Do you want to know how God responded to my prayer of despair?
God's answer to me was, "My timing is not your timing, My ways are higher than your ways."
Frustrating, but true.
Hard to accept, but true.
Just say the word, and I will be healed.
Hmmmm...something to ponder, yes?

FIBER FUN
Crochet:
I pulled this Spring Flower Granny Square Afghan out of UFO Land into WIP Land.  The pattern is by Maria at Maria's Blue Crayon.  This is my next project to move to completed.

Hand Embroidery
I've finished three more baubles!  Only a few more to go!  Then time to stitch the caps and hangers and it will be done!

Machine Embroidery:  So far, no progress on the mug rugs I "kitted" last week.
Sewing:  The Be Sew Creative's $15 Sampler quilt, The Montage by Karen Montgomery is almost a flimsy!  I want to attach one more side sashing, the top and bottom sashings, the borders and a pieced backing.  Then, hopefully, this week she'll go to my beloved long-arm quilter for the frosting on the cake!  I'm so excited to have a semi-finished project.
As I mentioned in this post, this year, my grandkids wanted Christmas ornaments.  The youngest however, asked for a dinosaur stuffie.  I found this so easy to follow "Sam the Dinosaur" pattern by Abby at While She Naps.  (photos courtesy of my granddaughter 😊

LITERARY LIFE -
CURRENT READS

FINISHED
There is a new, at least to me, trend that combines reading and crocheting:  book blankets.  I learned about it from Dayna at This Pixie Creates.  There are many ways to track our reading and this one is to crochet a granny square to match the cover of your book.  Dayna has a fabulous explanation with examples on her blog.
So, I decided to jump in!  I'll be sharing my progress periodically.  For now, here are last week's finishes.

Kathryn at Book Date, thank you for encouraging me to finish this series!  Still Me had just the right amount of suspense, betrayal, angst and love...yes love.  I wonder if I do like romance novels?  :) Highly recommend.

I enjoyed The Alchemist very much.  Scattered through this read are pearls of wisdom.  This is one of those books that should be read repeatedly as each reading is sure to bring more insights and wisdom.  Looking forward to reading more of Coelho's works.  Highly Recommend.

FINDING JOY - LeeAnna's I Like on Thursdays at Not Afraid of Color helps me consistently find the joy in every life.  It has become my Gratitude Journal, if you will.
This may be a weird "like", but I love these comic book boards.  My daughter was so enthusiastic when she finished wrapping her stash around these little boards that I had to give it a shot.  Wow!  Now my stash lines up neatly like books on a bookshelf.  I love them.  Though they are available on Amazon, why not pop into your locally owned comic book store if you decide to pick up a package?
I didn't prep the picture of my fabric.  This is how it looks after I've pulled fabric for a project and put the fabric back in its place several times.  Nice, huh?

Another couple worked with my husband and I to create a dream sewing studio.  Then, after work, my husband would go to our friend's workshop and create the custom built furniture.  Certainly an act of love.
One feature I love are these little knobs at the top of my design board.  The guys made me poles on which to hang my projects on, but these knobs allow me to have at two projects up at once!
Again, I didn't prepare anything, this is how it really looks today.

I saw these hexie swirl blocks on Zoe Mayson's Instagram feed and fell in love...so many ideas, so little time...sigh.

                      Happy stitching and reading!
