Weekly Word: Goodbye, Sweet Mia, Psalm 25:7 + Books, Stitches and Gratitude!

 Hello There,

Such a hard week...my precious Mia, my poodle of 17 years, passed away on March 14.  Her's is the second close death we've had this year.  I feel shattered as I wait for the joy that comes in the morning.

Here's is an index should you have a special interest you like to read first!
The Weekly Word - is a short devotional that sometimes becomes a Bible Study series.
My Reading Life - is filled with current, completed and upcoming reads as well as an occasional short review.
Stash Report and To Do Tuesday is where I'll share share stats regarding my fiber usage and acquisitions, Slow Sunday Stitching projects, goals met/lack thereof and photos of my projects.
Gratitude Journal - Sometimes I get lost in my own stinky thinking.  This digital journal reminds me to count my blessings!

The Weekly Word

d

In You, LORD, my God I put my trust.
I trust in You;
do not let me be put to shame nor let my enemies triumph over me.
No one who hopes in You will ever be put to shame,
but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause.
Show me Your ways LORD, teach me Your paths.
Guide me in Your truth and teach me
for You are God my Savior,
and my hope is in You all day long.
Remember, LORD, Your great mercy and love,
for they are all from of old.
Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways;
according to Your love, remember me, for You LORD, are good.

What a contrast between how David describes himself and then God.  David sees himself as a man who lived as a sinful youth and perhaps still rebellious.  Yes, he sees his Father as loving and good.  He reminds God of His love for His servant and asks him to remember him in the mirror of God's own love for him.

Acknowledging our sins, reminding God of His loving attributes and then asking to be remembered via His love shows a repentant, humble heart.  May we all work to attain this humble, loving relationship with our Abba Father.

My Reading Life

Last Week's List
1.   Slow Stitching
- Continue stitching on the Bee Humble project Done!  This project is coming along nicely!

- Stitch up Block 1 of the Tea Critters BOM Done!  It came out so cute!  It was a breeze to stitch up using charm squares and my Accuquilt half square triangle die.  No need to square down at all!  Looking forward to next week's Block two from Joy at Days Filled With Joy!

2.  Crochet
make progress on my Fall Granny Square afghan Not done at all

3. Machine Sewing:
- Prep my next Christmas quilt Done!  Again, using my Accuquilt Tumbler dies, I was able to prep 221 large tumblers for a quilt and countless mini tumblers from the scraps for a table topper!
- Prep more Fall Into a Quilt blocks  Not Done.  Geez Louise!  Another lost kit!  I remember kitted the fabrics and patterns together and now they are lost.  No panic this time. I know it'll show up.
Prep this month's $15 Sampler blocks  Not Done

SQUIRREL ALERT!
This week I felt more like prepping kits than sewing,  so I created my basket of personalized sewing kits from my stash.  There's some tumblers made from the scraps from my Christmas Tumbler quilt (thank you Accuquilt), a long suffering baby quilt, a pillow case and a bag for a friend.  Plenty to keep me busy.

I was finally able to attend a Machine Embroidery Sit and Sew at Be Sew Creative and spent the day relearning my embroidery machine!  This cute mug rugs are the result of Annette's, my teacher, patience and my hard work!  I'll be making a batch of them.

While they were stitching up, I started stitching up my Christmas Tumbler quilt on my other machine.

So this is what my sewing studio looks like - a happy mess that will soon be finished projects!

Gratitude Journal

With my Mia's passing, this is how my heart feels.
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
This  being our second close death this year, I'm waiting for morning.
Perhaps the story behind the song will bless you.

LeeAnna's prompt this week is all about our vegetable/herb gardens:  Do you plant a vegetable garden or pots of herbs? I do enjoy planting herbs and veggies, both in the ground and in pots.
What are  your favorites to plant? Rosemary grows well here in Southern New Mexico as do many other of my favorite herbs such as oregano, basil and such.
Do you prepare seeds in advance or buy little plants?  Last year I actually threw in the seeds from a jalapeƱo and bell pepper I was dicing.  Those plants are still producing fruit!  :)  Usually, however, I purchase the plants and then keep them in a portable green house through out the winter.  The rosemary survives with little care.
A raised bed, patio pots, or in ground? I use all three methods and even some hanging pots!
Any suggestions to what grows well? Chili, cotton, tomatoes, so many veggies grow nicely here.  Varieties you enjoy?  My all-time favorite are grape tomatoes.
Here are this week's posts from Instagram.

  12. Hi Patricia, I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet Mia's passing. That's such a difficult thing to live through. Thanks for showing me the Featherweight 221 book. I bought a Featherweight machine last year and haven't had the energy to try it out yet. Maybe this will help. Take care.

  13. I'm so sorry about Mia. I had a poodle in my teen years and she was the best friend. Nice job on the machine embroidery. My daughter had a potted Rosemary plant that she left for me when she went to college last fall. That Rosemary grows so well in a pot indoors in Minnesota, too! I'll put it outside in the summer. What do you use your for? We used it for our turkey at Thanksgiving and it added such great flavor!

  17. Patricia I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your sweet Mia. Fur babies become so close to our hearts it is a great loss when they do. You did have a good week in your sewing room. Your teacup critter is too cute, you made progress on the Christmas quilt and you got back to using the embroidery machine. Good for you! I'm most impressed with the kitted projects. I keep saying I am going to do that but I did kit a project about 5 years ago and it's still sitting in the project bag. I keep forgetting it's there and start other projects. Thank you for linking with To Do Tuesday. i hope you are finding comfort in your sewing room and with your reading and other projects this week.

  24. First of all let me say how sorry I was to hear about your Mia. We have been in that spot a number of times and it is always hard. They do stay in our hearts and minds as I think of Rex, my German Shepard, every day still. Meanwhile, a newsy post with lots to read.Your Tea Critters block is gorgeous. I wonder if I should get an Accuquilt machine. Accuracy is an issue for me and I probably should invest in something that will help with that. You are so good at keeping track too. I also should do more of that. Anyway, thinking about you...
