I love how my focus has increased with the "Finish, Focus and Prep" methodology I use with my Fiber Arts. Consequently, I'm going to apply that to my reading life with a bit of a twist. The categories will be "Finish, Focus and Next".
This should help with my "Backburner Reads" which are books I started, enjoyed, but lost focus.
The dual timeline is about the actual time the Breslauers spent in Westerbork as well as the retelling of their lives by his daughter, Ursula. She now has a completing different perspective on her father's actions. Perhaps this is a lesson for us all: have more empathy and understanding.
Matthews wrote this story with compassion highlighting the cruelty that comes when one's view is of racism, hate and destruction. Her book is at once difficult to read and inspiring for one to have the courage and foresight to do what is right in the face of great adversity. This is a book that will stay with me for years to come.
My alltime favorite reading ambiance is in my study/library/slow stitching room with soft lighting for eBooks and a bit brighter for hard copies. I usually multitask while listening to audiobooks.
added to their shelves or eBook readers the previous week.
I picked up this book at my local bookshop.
I picked up both hard cover and audiobooks at the library.

Your hexagons are so pretty! That is quite the reading list you have there. Don't forget to add Saucita Creek Blues to your list - it is on Amazon Kindle Unlimited or available for $1.99 Kindle. I am still thinking about the characters! The God-moment in it still makes me tear up when I think about it.
ReplyDeleteReading ambiance - most days I pour about 1/2 glass of wine and set myself down on the sofa (hopefully husband hasn't turned on the TV yet) and read a few chapters before we eat. I look forward to that time so much. I am currently reading all the Outlander books.
I hope your weekend and next week are wonderful!
My favorite reading ambiance is sitting on the couch in my bedroom, under a blanket, with a noise fan going nearby to block all other noise! I can read with noise, but choose not to, and don't want to hear the conversations/road noise outside. I hope you enjoy all of these books. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Only I Can Save Them with us. I especially appreciate you letting us know why you enjoyed it so much.
ReplyDeleteI think my aunt and sister-in-law could help me make a pot holder like yours the next time we get together for sewing...though it's probably a little too hard for me.
I enjoy Patti Callahan Henry’s books and I haven’t read this one yet. I need to add it to my TBR. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteI see a few books that I want to check out. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYour projects are coming along nicely!
ReplyDeleteCode name Helene is an excellent read, I hope you enjoy it too.
Wishing you a lovely reading week
Your hexagons are gorgeous! Enjoy your reading this week. I'm a fan of Patty Callahan Henry.

Your hexagons are the cutest! How many are you going to make? Love your other projects too and hope to see the tote bag and pot holders in your next post. Thanks for the book recommendations! I always read in the evenings after I go to bed. That means not many pages are read and it takes me forever to finish a book. lol
ReplyDeleteYou always have so many beautiful projects in the works. I love seeing how the hexis are coming together. Enjoy your week. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThat passage from Isaiah is one of my favorites. Was turned into a great song by Carey Landry. Love the tote. Such pretty colors. Enjoy your week!

I'm in love with those hexies of yours. As for reading I love to curl up on a comfy chair or in bed with a cup of tea in hand, perhaps a slice of cake. I'm not a fan of reading from a kindle etc; I love the smell and feel of if a bound book in my hands.
ReplyDeleteEach hexie showcases a lovely fabric. The girl with geese is particularly fetching. As for my favorite reading spot - my bed. I've been reading before nodding off since was six. However, I listen to 99% of my books these days. That way I am reading all day long. So, my favorite place to listen is in my studio, particularly while I am sewing repetitive units or doing FMQ.
ReplyDeleteThe hexies are really fun! That's a lot of reading! About the only "reading" I can find time for is audiobooks (while I sew)!
ReplyDeleteYour hexies look awesome. I often listen to audiobooks from the library as I stitch.--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteYour hexie project is just getting better and better - they are all so pretty together! I have a comfy chair with a window to our backyard and the bird feeders where I read every day. I always enjoy seeing your books - many I have enjoyed, too. I like Patti Callahan Henry - I'll have to look for that book.
ReplyDeleteThe hexie project is beautiful and your new Flower Box block is going to be a fantastically fun finish with the seed beads. Thank you for sharing your book suggestions and for another great post being shared on To Do Tuesday. 🤗
