SPECIAL EDITION: Get On Board With Sewing! + Weekly Word: , Books, Stitches and Gratitude!

Hello there!

Thank you for stopping in to read this special edition of my blog!  This week's post will be a bit different, but hopefully just as enjoyable.

One way it's different is that this is the first time I'm participating in a blog hop!  Today is my day on the Get On Board With Sewing Blog Hop!

Also, this post will be shorter, each section will be a bit abbreviated.  My knee surgery was a success, but we faced post-surgical complications that landed me right back in the hospital for a few more days.  All is working out, but I'm still weak and trying to recover.  There are more details on my Instagram account (miaismine22), but for now, let's move onto this exciting post!

As my weekly posts are jampacked with lots of fun mini- articles, here's is an index should you have a special interest you'd like to read first!  Otherwise, settle in with your favorite beverage and snack and enjoy!
The Weekly Word - is a short devotional that sometimes becomes a Bible Study series.
My Reading Life - is filled with current, completed and upcoming reads as well as an occasional short review.
Stash Report and To Do Tuesday is where you'll find my project for Get on Board with Sewing!
is where I'll share share stats regarding my fiber usage and acquisitions, goals met/lack thereof and photos of my projects.
Gratitude Journal - Sometimes I get lost in my own stinky thinking.  This digital journal reminds me to count my blessings!

Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer - Here you will find updates on life after Triple Negative Breast Cancer.  I was diagnosed in November of 2014 and my last day of treatment was in November 2015.

Weekly Word

As I was reading Psalm 29, it seemed like an action movie!  Truly it did!  The Lord's actions, His voice all of it is so powerful!  Look!  Read it for yourself!
God's voice is over the waters, He thunders, breaks the cedars, strikes with flashes of lightining!
My heart raced as I read and imagined our Lord's power.
Then a pause:  verse 11.
He gives us strength and blesses us with peace.
Reading the entire psalm shows such action: yet it ends with the word “peace”.
Do you need His peace today?  I know I do.  Let's lean on Him together, on His power, strength and peace.

To Do Tuesday

Get on Board with Sewing!

I hope you all have been enjoying the Get On Board with Sewing Blog Hop!   Thank you to Brenda @ Songbird Designs  and Melva @ Melva Loves Scraps  for organizing the Get On Board with Sewing Blog Hop.  I also appreciate their invitation to participate.
We were challenged to sew something related to our theme, write about it and share a bit of our sewing history.
My parents gave me my first sewing machine when I was twelve.  I was enrolled in a sewing class and after that was one my own.  Needless to say, sewing went by the wayside.  I took up hand embroidery and knitting.  Daddy laughs as he recalls that I would embroider on literally anything - even his handkerchiefs!  Here he's be at work, pull out his hanky only to find it embroidered with flowers and other such designs!
After I got married, I dived deep into embroidery, cross stitch and crochet.  Over the years we purchased a few machines, but I still struggled.  Then I got my first Bernina, a Bernina 350.  It was magic!  I've taken off like a race horse and never looked back!  😀

This is why I thought this Cabana Mesh Tote by Marlous Designs would be perfect for this tropical/get on board with sewing theme!  It's a great intermediate/beginner project that fits in with the beach/pool!

The center four squares on each side of the tote are acutally pockets!
My grandaughter was my photographer.  She filled the tote with about four skeins of yarn and several yards of fabric,
so it holds a ton!

I hope you will visit the other participants in the hop and be inspired by their wonderful projects!  Plus, there are prizes!  Visit Brenda's page to enter to win prizes!  Who doesn't love prizes?

  1. What a cute story about embroidering your Dad's hankies. :D Your mesh bag is da Bomb! I've never sewn with mesh - that looks like a great carryall - and it's pretty! Hope you are feeling better and stronger every day. I'm praying for you (hugs).
